The day of the lease we were contacted by the owner to make us aware trades people had been working in the property so “hoped they hadn’t left any mess” and that as the owners were currently away they had also left stale milk in the fridge? They did offer to replace this but it just felt bizarre. When we arrived we dropped off our bags and headed out noticing a fair amount of dirt and left over wire/tools from the trades people. The owners weren’t home or due back till after 8pm so there’s little they could have done to remedy this. Contacting the owner later, they made it clear they “cleaned” 6 days prior but had no intention of making sure it was clean for us after having work carried out on the property. There was a £100 charge for the hot tub, which given the owners were away how would this have worked? It’s also in full view from the owners house which is a bit creepy. When we returned we noticed that nearly everything was cleaned to a very low standard. The surfaces hadn’t been wiped down and had baked on food present. The cutlery was in a similar state and use pans were left out. The rugs were dirtied, floor not vacuumed, cobwebs everywhere and stains on the towels. We tried using the shower only for the drains to back up on us and spill out of the shower tray. Looking for a plunger we opened the cupboard under the sink only to find it covered in rodent droppings. My partner is immunocompromised so rodent droppings pose a big risk to her health. We tried looking for somewhere else to stay but due to road closures, having dogs and prices we had to stay. If the ferries were still running we would have gone home. I really didn’t want to be causing an argument and have people invading our space late at night so sucked it up and gone on with it. We messaged the owner with our concerns in the morning to which she replied very aggressively and started sending false accusations.

We were looking for a last minute booking for the isle of Arran and stumbled upon The Best Moments Start Here. The hut was very cozy and cute, the owner, John, came to greet us and was very welcoming, unfortunately it was raining a lot but the hut was perfect to snuggle and have some peace.

The only thing that bothered me a little bit was the cleanliness of the place that was not perfect; there was an old earplug beside the bed on the wooden frame and still some toothpaste on the glasses in the bathroom. But apart from that, everything was perfect

The quiet surroundings and privacy. Owners very nice and left you to it.

The smell of damp.

What i liked the most was the way the wagon/hut was neatly decorated and useful. Loads of space and good hygiene

What i didn’t like was that i had to pay 100£ for a hot tub that was supposed to be ready at arrival, but i had to heat it myself for another 2 1/2 hour before we could use it . The guy taking care of this needed to go and said simple you can do that yourself not ??? Sorry for 100£ i shouldn’t have to do anything but enjoy the tub…

Needs a good scrub..a right mess outside
