Stay Portland - Spacious Studio in Brooklyn

The unit is cute. The decor does make it appealing to the eye. The couch was comfortable and I slept well in the bed (ran the fan and noise machine to cover street noise). There was ample amounts of coffee supplied. The shower was hot. The kitchen was clean and functional.

The door lock battery failed and I was unable to lock the door the last day of my stay. I contacted the management and they said someone would come assist me. No one ever came. In addition, there is a smoke alarm on the property that chirped 24 hours a day as it also needed a new battery. Not great to listen to while trying to sleep. Unit is on the bottom floor with a very busy street. There is a bus stop out the front window and a convenient store across from the other window. I did not feel comfortable opening the blinds at night or during the day. Made the time here less enjoyable. The check in process included paying an additional $500.00 security deposit. This came as a surprise. It’s a concern too, as I can’t lock the door when I leave and I’m not comfortable with being held liable for possible damages to a space due to their lack of security.

Bed was comfortable and Apartment was a good size.

Pictures make it look bright and nicer than it is in person. There are no rugs and therefore it sounds like an echo chamber. It is located on a busy street and is noisy. Opening the blinds is uncomfortable both at night and during the day, unit is on the first floor with the sidewalk and a bus stop right outside the window. With the blinds closed it feels closed in with no nature light and claustrophobic. Smoke alarm is mounted in a location that makes it useless and needs to be moved to a correct location to function. Unit would also benefit from having a second smoke alarm installed for additional safety.

It was very comfortable and had everything necessary for cooking which was nice. I liked that we could watch TV from the sofa or the bed. It felt secure enough and I liked that it was walking distance from Rose City Cafe.

The 15min hot water limit was a bit of a let down and the shower could use a shower curtain that encases the whole tub to a prevent having such wet floors after taking a shower.

Bed was very comfortable. Property was very clean upon arrival. Enjoyed the coffee kcups. I liked the gated access with keypad...easy to use and felt very safe.

Has a slight smell when you first enter that you get used to. I didn't care for the shower arrangement in a claw tub with curtains on both sides and the potential for water on the floor. Not a lot of room in the shower as a result, and in bathroom in general. Some fixtures were partially hanging out of wall. A bit noisy given on ground level on a busy street.
