White rose safari home stay

The room itself was nice and very cheap. However I have lots of complaints and cannot understand the other ratings.

I tried to find white rose which seems to have another name (moon lit) too. There is no sign of either name nor is the address 100% correct. Five messages on booking.com have not been answered until now. It took two phone calls by locals, five strangers and a friendly family who helped me to arrive at the place and have someone open the door. The apartment booked was not available so I slept in a room for four people. In the night, men entered the open gate and were sitting and laughing in front of the glass door. At some parts it’s was possible to look into the building. A man with a flashlight was walking around the house too. For the first time, I felt super unsafe solo traveling Sri Lanka as a woman. Replies regarding the safari via WhatsApp took long and then, pressure for quick decisions was put on me. Payment of the safari was the priority in the morning. The driver was a kind person, yet not very informative (I feel the safari was not worth the price of 60€ for two people). The breakfast we got was disgusting as it was from the days before. We just wanted to leave this place. (Normally, I don’t write about accommodations but this was one should be avoided despite the cheap price!).

After confirming the booking, I received a call from the hotel offering to book a safari. I refused, and they offered me again several times with increasing insistence. After yet another refusal, the hotel employee rudely said "then we don't have a room for you" and hung up. We urgently had to find another hotel. I find this deeply unacceptable.

The place is very quiet and beautiful, we really enjoyed our stay, and for the price it was great! The food was also very good, big portions and very tasty. Ravindu's safari was great. The price was reasonable. The lunch provided during the time was very tasty and a unique experience. I appreciate this.

We chose to stay at this property because of the good reviews and it was a great decision. The entire property was really clean and well maintained. The free breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of it! So was the rice curry! They arranged an afternoon safari for us as soon as we got there for a good price and it was amazing, the driver was so knowledgeable. Our best stay in Sri Lanka. This is 100% guaranteed.

Hosts were really nice and helpful all throughout the stay. Breakfast was really good! Room was spacious and had aircon and mosquite nets. Location was good. I did the offered Safari for 19,500 Rupees, was really good and saw many animals.

Wifi was almost unuseable at times, no towel was provided and bathroom could have been a little cleaner.

Beautiful en-suite bedroom with bathroom, two double beds, dressing table. Drinking water is readily available and the owner will make you freshly brewed (proper) coffee or tea whenever you need it. Wonderful breakfast with freshly cut local fruit, yogurt, perfect omelette, pancakes if desired. I had dinner both nights and wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. Ravidu is a super host, I booked my safari with him. He accommodated my arrival at the elephant transit house 5 minutes away and he arranged my onward taxi to the falls.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay even better. The room had plenty of space and was clean. The shower was very hot. Food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff organized the safari which was an unreal experience and the price was very good. Ravidu, our guide was perfect, he knew a lot and was great at identifying animals. He was also very friendly. Communication was very good even before our arrival. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone planning to stay in the area. Excellent value for money.
