The Elgin Fairlawn, Kolkata

Wonderful hotel in the city center. Very clean, with extremely kind and impeccable staff — all true professionals. A lovely surprise was the beautiful and delicious birthday cake from the hotel staff upon my arrival, which made my stay even more special. The cocktails were excellent, and the restaurant’s food was also very tasty. I highly recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Very run down. Mould in bathroom. Noise from restaurant. Fan very noisy.

A glimpse into the past ;wicker chairs, overhead fans, old photos, G&T’s and exceptional staff. It’s an oasis amongst the colour and chaos outside the gates. The rooms are large and comfortable and perhaps the showers reflect their age a bit! This place is not about fluffy towels and the in-room dining menu. Their restaurant in the ‘Imperial room’ is fantastic and extremely reasonable. It’s central, has a metro stop nearby and if you are adventurous walk to Mother Teresa’s Missionary and the spice market in Burra Bazaar.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön, mit einem sehr schönen Flair aus alten Zeiten. Das Personal war extrem freundlich und aufmerksam. Lage sehr gut, alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten entweder mit Taxi oder zu Fuß gut zu erreichen.
