The Gem Farmhouse by Homely

It was very private. The Homely Group who rent it on behalf of the owner were very approachable and helpful. You have everything you need there and it's perfect for a group to share. The owner is lovely too, we met her a couple of times. The only possible downside is transport but we used Bolt and Uber taxis so we managed. Would definitely go back there 😊👍

Great place, super clean and amazing communication.

The layout of the property was great - the pool is in a private courtyard, and the rooms surround it. The large dining/kitchen area was spacious and well equipped. There's not much within walking distance, but the location is in a nice central area for easily getting to main areas via bolt. The property was clean and as described. I would stay here again.

As with other reviewers, we didn't have hot water upon arrival, but the host quickly sent an electrician to get the issue sorted right away. There were some millipedes indoors, but that's par for the course for Malta. The beds are quite firm.

Beautiful spacious building. Large space meant we were not at all cramped. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to go around. Large communal space meant we could gather, eat, drink, chat, play cards etc. Pool was great to have although we could only use it occasionally as we were mostly out visiting attractions on the island. Comfortable beds. Nice place to come back to at the end of the day.

Bathroom finishing was not great (caulking, water drainage). The water pressure was a bit low upstairs so the two downstairs showers were shared a bit. There was a problem with flushing toilet paper (we shouldn't). Also watch out for the millipedes! A bit off the beaten track but taxis were good.

Large villa, spacious open plan kitchen diner. Basic amenities such as bin bags and a selection of tea and coffee sachets. Bottle of water was welcoming after a long day travelling. We used the bolt app for taxi's and were glad we didn't hire a car as there is nowhere really to park, it's residential and a narrow street. It is a shame the issues with the property have not been addressed as it has the potential to be stunning. There is a massive space on the roof, where you can hang your washing out, a table and chairs and a few flowers could make it a lovely place to eat and sunbathe. The size of the property is brilliant, we were a family of 7, and all the kids got there own room which made them happy. Only down side, is you have to go through one bedroom to get to the bathroom. All the other bedrooms had their own bathrooms, but there is no communal bathroom which makes it tricky if you need the loo and everyone has gone to bed.

The pool was dirty on arrival. It was cleaned on day 3. It was also baltic, with no heating. The bbq was filthy. The shower in the downstairs bathroom leaked, and the room was flooded every time someone had a shower. The upstairs shower was not fixed to the wall. The glass panel did not fit right, which meant more water everywhere. The beds are very firm, it was cold at night but no extra blankets. The general fixtures in the house to all poor standard, the hot and cold on taps not the right way round, no hot water in the kitchen. Broken tiles, black silicon, awful damp smell. The door in the living room area was fixed with expanding foam. Advertised as having outside dining area, it doesn't. There are 2 plastic chairs and 4 plastic sun loungers, some with cracks in and pass their best. Very noisy in the front bedroom from around 6am, waste collection is early, dogs barking and a rooster, all can be heard loudly although there is a double glazed window. Don't expect a lay in. The pool is very deep, and leads off every door downstairs, fine for us having older children but I would have been on edge with young children / toddlers as there is no way to close it off. It is in a very local area, supermarkets, about 15 / 20 min walk, butchers and bakers a few minutes walk away, but no other amenities to speak of. It was a bit worrying there was a ladder leading to a neighbouring property on the roof. It made us feel a little unsafe. The ladder got moved! You have to put the correct bins bags out each day, and store full bags in a room by the front door, which is fine until the next morning when the bin bag has been ripped open by rodents.... Cooking in the oven was also a issue as there was only 1 rack in the oven. Difficult to cook for 7 people only being able to use one tray at a time.
