Spacious House in Brighton with large garden and free parking

Location.

No hot running water. No gas. Poor communication from host. Blinds in bedroom all broken. Garden extremely overgrown. Host was obtuse and difficult to contact. Expected us to sort the hot water.

The kitchen was in good condition and reasonably supplied. The bed linen and towels were clean.

The condition of the house and the state of the 'garden'. One of the bedrooms stank of cigarettes. The window blind in the front bedroom was smashed up. The front of the house was strewn with litter, cigarette ends, beer cans. The TV did not work. Some of the light bulbs were missing. The ping-pong table was broken. The supplied comforter was smelly. The bedroom storage units were useless. The downstairs lavatory light was broken.

All good. Only stayed 2 nights but it was restful. No disturbances.

Furnishings (apart from kitchen) were new and modern. The addition of a table tennis table.

On arrival we were greeted by a grill pan and baking trays full of rusty water which we needed to move to the side. No blinds at the kitchen window when we were there for privacy when using the sofa bed, as kitchen door also has glass windows. Leaking sink and plug with hole in it so water ran out when trying to wash up, into the cupboard and flooding floor which we dried up. Kitchen cupboard door held on by one hinge at the bottom which was not broken by our grandchildren as was implied! Cooker hood filter extremely filthy and greasy. Ignition button on hob missing, just the metal pin to press, I think this could be safety issue. Flooring torn in the corner near the sink. Crockery, cutlery and pans needed washing before use. Mildew on one of the dinner plates. Nowhere to hang a towel in the downstairs toilet, we had to put it on the windowsill. Curtain pole in back bedroom hanging on with one screw. Blinds in front bedroom had missing slats. Shower not working, button on tap to make it worked was seized. Garden very overgrown to the point it wasn’t useable. Waist height weeds in some places. As a consequence of the above we stayed one night only and not two as booked. We were asked how we would like the beds to be made up and requested one of doubles to be twin and the other double. They were both made as doubles and also the beds were made for 5 and not 6 as booked. I rang the housekeeper who wasn’t able to help us. Towels only for 5 people also. Our son was unable to get the tv to work, it switched on but would connect.
