The Cabin at Merrywoods

This place is so cute and in such a great location.

I had every intention of rating this place highly, but there were a lot of problems. To start, we had booked the stay with dogs but a few days before we got there, the host messaged me saying she didn’t know we had pets and that there was a pet fee. I assumed it was just a communication error and paid the pet fee over Venmo. I later discovered that the host, per booking.com policy, is not allowed to request payments off site. During this time, she also requested I send her a copy of my ID, again off of booking.com. When we got to the place, we had a weird feeling of being watched the entire time, even indoors. One of the nights, we were awoken in the middle of the night by the sound of multiple gunshots and we ended up having to call the police. Luckily, the police were very helpful and there was no one in danger, but it was still jarring. When we left, there was conflicting information about checkout, but we tried to follow all instructions as best we could and we thought that was the end of it. But as soon as we got home, we were bombarded by the host accusing us of causing property damage. She claimed we had cracked the toilet seat and started harassing us privately about having to pay for damages. She harassed us over text, over Venmo, and eventually over booking.com. We were in constant contact with booking.com and were repeatedly told that because she was messaging us privately, and not following guidelines by going through booking.com, that they’d were going to investigate her claims. This entire experience was supposed to be the perfect weekend away in the mountains, but instead it left us shaken and uncomfortable.

The cabin was very comfortable, we felt right at home. Easy access to get around town and see the things we wanted to see. We will rebook this for another giveaway.

Only issue was coming onto main road. Cannot see around the bend when pulling out so be careful. People drive fast on that road.

Everything was great. Very clean and beds were comfortable.

The cabin is very beautiful inside and out and very peaceful. We plan to make it our yearly retreat. Our stay was very relaxing and we plan on returning. The host Stephanie answered our questions in a timely manner. Thank you very much . Sandra Pumphrey

It truly was just as advertised and was the perfect alternative to staying at a hotel for a Thanksgiving rendezvous with our Daughter in Georgia. Clean, appropriately decorated in a manner that gave off a deja vu vibe.

I book this cabin for my husband birthday and we have a really good time the cabin is really beautiful and owner decorated was really nice and the bed was so comfortable will been visiting ago thanks so much
