Luxurious Retreat 4bd in Maidstone

This was by far the worst booking experience I have ever had on Booking.com. The property falsely advertises itself as “Luxury,” but it was the complete opposite. I booked this property for two adults and five children. When we arrived late at night, we immediately noticed that the front door was not secure — you could clearly see inside from outside, which made the place feel unsafe. The garden was completely overgrown, like a forest. Inside, the conditions were shocking: spiders in the bathtub, dirty and broken pots, unusable plates, cobwebs in every room, and beds that were broken and covered with old, filthy sheets. The whole house was extremely dirty and unfit for human stay. Even before we arrived, the landlord contacted me to say he had booked an appointment with a contractor to cut the grass while we were staying there. I had to say no — I would never allow a total stranger to enter a property where my children were staying, especially when they were unfamiliar with the person. This is unacceptable. Any maintenance or repairs should have been completed before advertising the property on Booking.com or accepting guests, not during a family’s stay. When we raised concerns about the appalling condition of the property, the host stopped communicating. We then had to spend the night on the phone with Booking.com because the children were uncomfortable and it was too late to find another place. First thing the next morning, we had no choice but to leave and book another property at additional expense. No family, not even animals, should be expected to stay in this property. It is not safe, not clean, and certainly not “luxury.” This place should not even be listed on Booking.com. Attached are pictures to show how unacceptable it was. Do not book this property — tragedy is the best word to describe it.

I didn't stay at the property it was for 3 of our employees. The property is close to local shops (walking distance) and close to their place of work.
