"The authentic village experience"

9.0

Cooking was amazing and plentiful. Authentic rustic village experience within Charlie's village. The close by beach is amazing. We felt welcome and included and they were very attentive. Charlie's just paid of another solar panel which will provide greater capacity to power etc Water pressure-altho cold! Hot springs at the local beach and nearby river. Walking distance to Mt yasur/ashfields Leaving little toys and colored pencils for the kids brought much joy to everyone.(clean out your kids toy chests prior coming!!!)

Transport cost to the place are very high,it's a long way out/remote. When it rains it can get muddy and there is not too much to do. If you not into a camping like experience this is not the place to stay for too long.

"Exceptional"

10.0

William, Tom (our driver) and William's family were exceptional hosts! Tom drives carefully and skilfully over very rough roads. You can hear the rumble of Mt Yasur from your accommodation, and it is only a 20min drive away. William organised a diverse and flexible tour itinerary for me at a very fair price - even snorkelling at Whitegrass and visiting Tanna Coffee after check-in when my flight was delayed by 3h. The accommodation is 1h 30min from the airport and the main tourist strip, but you get the chance to observe life in the villages of Tanna. Accommodation is basic, but it is comfortable and William provides solar lights and a battery at night to charge your devices, and even WIFI on request.

I wasn't bothered by this, but travellers might like to be aware that your tour (and Tanna generally) operates on Vanuatu/"island" time: expect +30 to +90 min for organised activities/flights, and stopping the car a number of times to pick up fresh produce from market stalls. There is also a decent entry fee of min 1000 VUV to sites, which is incorporated in the cost of your stay w/ tour. But as Tom says, "don't worry, be happy" - you're on Tanna! (Also a few mozzies around when it rains - pack deet).

"If you want to sample some real Tanna hospitality I would recommend this ."

10.0

Charlie is a very good host , knows everyone on the island and can arrange , tours , flights to accomodate any of your needs . He and his family were so hospitable , it was the highlight of my stay on Tanna to stay with them , they have a beautiful beach just 10min walk which the village children love to play in , the water is crystal clear . I love the hut it’s a tradition style and the food was beautiful , organic and fresh which his wife makes over traditional wood fire . I highly recommend staying with Charlie and using his tours . Not to forget Tom his driver who knows his stuff when it comes to four wheel driving through the volcanic ash plains and rivers to get to the top of the volcano . ( Charlie is a math teacher at the village school , supplies are limited on the island so recommend brining some stationary , pens , crayons , books ect )

It’s was perfect for me , I wished I had stayed longer . Will go back again .
