La Suite di Piazza dell'Università

LOCATION! This is the perfect location to be near the duomo (St. Agatha church), the fish market, the bus stop at piazza Borsellino, you can walk to everything from here. The suite was huge like a home, full kitchen, espresso machine with pods, a washer, a back patio, 2 full bathrooms, piazza Universita view from the big front window. The apartment was very clean. One of the bathrooms did have a drain pluming issue but if you just kept the door shut you could not smell it & it was fine. The other bigger bathroom is the main bathroom & has a bigger shower, so you would probably be using that bathroom most & it’s a nice bathroom with a bidet. There are 17 steps up to the apartment, it is not bad. I imagine every place in this city has steps. The host is very attentive & will reply back immediately. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect localization for exploring Catania, near to bars, restaurants, museums, fish market, all "must seen" places in city center. Nice view on Piazza della Universita. Super nice bar on the ground floor - so easy to have typical Italian breakfast in the morning with a cup of espresso or a glas of Prosecco. The owner is helpful, when my son stoke the keys in an apartment he came with additional ones and let us in.

The smell in the bathroom - unbearable. It is not possible to stand in the apartment with the closed windows . Additionally at night it is not possible to sleep in the leaving room with open windows because of the noise from the arabic restaurant located in the ground floor, next to the bar, and in the sleeping room because of shouting waiters from the restaurants in the interior parts of the tenement. And the most important - during our whole stay THERE WAS NO WATER IN THE APARTMENT. During 4 days! The owner said that it was a water pipe failure in the area, but I ask an owner of the bar and he confirmed that they have water. So we have to switch on a special engine on the terrace to have water in the apartment. Without that there was no water. So uncomfortable. No resolution of the problem during 4 days of our stay.

Everything was amazing! From the location of the apartment to the cordiality of the proprietors to the apartment itself inside a beautifully restored residence -- we loved our stay. I felt like I was at home. The beds (even the sofa bed) were comfortable and waking up and being able to walk over to the window and look out at the square made this experience memorable. We will absolutely be back. Thank you - thank you - thank you!!
