Vintage Elegance, Modern Comfort: 1BR Apartment Overlooking Calea Victoriei

Locația este excelentă, pe Calea Victoriei, chiar în clădirea Adriatica Trieste, care, în ciuda aspectului exterior și a faptului că nu a fost renovată, la interior arată binișor, are o gresie interesantă și nu există niciun miros de clădire veche. Camerele înalte, pereții cu stucaturi, corpurile de iluminat, ușile mari cu geamuri, jaluzeaua exterioară automata, foarte utila, măștile caloriferelor foarte frumoase și elegante, oglinda mare, dulapul înalt cu oglinzi, mobilierul de bucătărie drăguț, cu frigider mascat și gresia vintage de pe hol. Patul confortabil, lenjeria și prosoapele de bună calitate. Gazda a fost foarte atentă, a trimis multe mesaje pentru a se asigura că este totul în ordine.

Lipsa unei mese mai înalte, cu scaune. Masa aceea foarte joasă este inutilă și total nepotrivită cu stilul apartamentului, ar trebui scoasă. De asemenea, tabloul din living nu se potrivește deloc și este uzat, zgâriat. Canapeaua este cam murdară și instabilă. Parchetul și ușile necesită recondiționare. Mai multă atenție la detalii și apartamentul va arăta super.

Cracker of a location, bang on Calea Victoriei, very handy for museums, cafes and a few nice pubs. The place had a lovely charm, felt really homely. Internet worked grand, telly had all the bits, and the kitchen was great for breakfast and a late bite. Would be perfect for anyone doing a week in the city.

Apartment in downtown Bucharest, in the Old City. The apartment is in a historic building with very high ceilings. It features a cool, historical vintage design. It was perfect! Nearby, there were plenty of shops and restaurants.

In the apartment, there wasn’t a proper table for eating—just a small, low table for magazines. If you want to eat at this table, you’d need to sit on the floor. The Wi-Fi was very bad, which is unacceptable for a modern European capital. We relied on mobile internet, but as EU citizens with a normal provider, we didn’t expect to have to use it so much. This apartment is only suitable for romance and making love. The window didn’t have curtains, and since it’s in the city center with bright street illumination, privacy and good sleep were impossible. If you’re an exhibitionist and enjoy being seen naked, it’s a perfect choice. But if you value privacy or a good night’s rest, this apartment is not for you. There was no tea, coffee, sugar, or even soap provided—not to mention shampoo or shower gel. My wife and I work online, but we couldn’t work from this apartment due to the poor internet connection. This apartment is only good for a romantic couple who eat at restaurants and rent a place just for sleeping or spending the night. Out of sight out of mind in bathroom was not bath plug. Why? You save money on hot water? We decided this problem but it's not normal. I gave you 7+ but if I'll be more honestly the rating point will be 6+.

The location was good.

The worst experience we ever had in an apartment. The very first moment we entered the apartment we found a dead cockroach on the kitchens counter. But that wasn’t the worst part. The bed was full of bed bugs. They bit me and now I have a serious allergic reaction. We talked with the manager and they only told us to evacuate immediately the apartment. We asked for a refund but they told us that they need to check first. We asked them for us to be there for the check but they threatened us to call the police. They didn’t even helped us to find a new apartment for the rest of our days. Furthermore when we returned we had to decontamination all of our belongings. Thank you I guess.

The apartment is in a great location, very central, good bus connections. The apartment is large and has lots of light and high ceilings, and the small balcony is a really nice feature. There is some traffic noise but this wasn't a problem for us when we closed the three (!) sets of doors to the balcony. The apartment is well furnished and has all the facilities you need, including an oven, big fridge, coffee machine, kettle etc. The bathroom is also large and well appointed, with a big bath and a washing machine. The management company, Homey, has a chat service for questions, and they are very good, they respond quickly, they are helpful, and their English is excellent.

The shower is extremely basic, simply a shower head in a holder in the wall, so you have to sit in a dedicated seat in the bath and have your shower mostly using one hand. I have never seen a shower this basic in a hotel or apartment before, it reminded me of growing up in Ireland in the 80s and that is not a recommendation. I don't consider this an acceptable shower in a Western country in 2024. When we arrived, the boiler was unplugged, so we quickly ran out of hot water. It took us a day to realise that the boiler wasn't plugged in - it never occurred to me to check whether the boiler was plugged in, it's simply not the customer's responsibility to check this. When we arrived, the washing machine was plugged in, and my wife got a small electric shock from the body of the machine. We unplugged the machine, since we didn't intend to use it. I don't know if this was dangerous or not. Some minor annoyances. The apartment was well furnished with some nice design touches, but there was no washing up liquid or cleaning cloths, so we could not wash our dishes. There was no shampoo, and just enough toilet paper. I think this is not unusual in Romanian apartments, this is our first time here, but it seems strange to me to be so stingy about small items. The entrance to the building is through an entrance foyer and up a marble staircase, or using a small, rickety lift. The marble makes the stairwell quite cold, the stairs are chipped and cracked, the stairwell walls are dirty and the windows are sealed. The building reminded me of the final scene in Blade Runner - faded glory, now running to seed. One last point, guests are asked to send copies of their photo ID to complete the booking. This was the first time we have ever been asked for this, and it made us a little uncomfortable, although the management company seems solid. We have not been asked for this elsewhere in Romania
