I was hesitant when I booked this place because of the price, but it was definitely worth it. One of the best places I stayed during my 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. The local guides were great to hike with. The beds were extremely comfortable and waking up to the view outside the tent every morning was incredible. Everything was very clean and the food was good. Spacious and clean bathroom, much better than what I was expecting. I also felt very safe here as a female solo traveler.

Overall I absolutely recommend staying in the Knuckles if you’re looking for a relaxing, outdoorsy experience off the beaten track. The views from the glampsite are breathtaking and the location is excellent for several different hikes of various difficulty levels. The site charges ~35USD per person for a private guided hike which actually turned out to be both decent value (7 hours) and very necessary (not an easy hike)! Our guide Chamra was absolutely excellent. We hiked to the waterfall and swam there which was easily a highlight of our whole trip. The food was really tasty and the staff at the glampsite were very polite and attentive. The tent was comfortable, there’s hot water 24/7 and the generator is on a few hours a day for charging etc.

I was a bit apprehensive of the price of this particular glampsite and indeed it is a bit expensive for what you get, especially as you don’t have much choice but to eat dinner there. There are certainly cheaper places you can stay but if this is in your budget then I would say it’s still worth it for a very comfortable stay. We would have liked more choice of drinks e.g. soft drinks (they only had beer). I also think the tents need to have extra blankets ideally as it gets cold at night so bring an extra layer. Being off-grid & off-line offered a welcome digital detox, but ideally do try and arrange your return journey before you arrive otherwise you will have to accept whatever the staff can arrange for you which may not be the cheapest option. It is about 1.5 hours outside of Kandy FYI.

An immersive experience in nature and fully offline. I didn’t expect the road to the pick up location to be as narrow and winding as it was. Once I got picked up by the 4x4 the adventure started and had an exceptional time. The road is really as bumpy as they say, but definitely part of the experience. The staff are all very kind and attentive. I did the waterfall hike with Saj, and it was so much fun! Also enjoyed hearing more about the nature and animals around us. The food was also very delicious. Overall an experience to remember.
