"A psychotic host that does not take responsibility as a failed host. Chooses to insult and threaten."

I got to a very dirty property, the beds, couch were all soiled. It actually looked like people were sleeping in the beds just before we got there and they hurried out as we were walking in. I immediately contacted the host “owner” and his response was the following: “I am truly sorry, this is totally unacceptable, I have sent all this to the cleaners which we pay religiously I really do not know what’s going but they must respond ASAP!” I tried to to call because on his response I was expecting a form of commitment and a solution, but I never got that. His phone was then switched off. This was after midnight. I had informed the host that I will be arriving late, as I only left Johannesburg late “after work”. Because of the check in time/ arrival time, I was too exhausted to find another booking. My kids slept on the floor, and I did not sleep, I sat on a chair until morning. We left that morning. The host phone was still off and were not reachable. Around 10, I wrote to him a WhatsApp, request a refund so that I can pay for another booking. I stated that I will post on all social media. It was only around 13:30 that he called me claiming that he has been in an accident and all that. In that conversation, he still did not propose a solution nor take responsibility, but again blamed the cleaners and further claimed that his place was broken into. HOW DO YOU EVEN ALLOW PEOPLE TO BOOK AND STAY AT YOUR PLACE WHEN YOU KNOW THAT IT HAD BEEN BROEKN IN AND YOU HAVE NOT RESOLVED THAT? WHAT ABOUT THEIR SAFETY??? The only thing that came out of that conversation was that he will refund me as soon as he receives the payment from bookings.com. I then asked him to put that down as a WhatsApp message. Which he never did. His phone was off, into the next day, Sunday. I then decided to send a text about the telephonic conversation on Saturday. See below my text: Good day, As per our discussion yesterday. You will refund me my full amount of R 3,304.

Host phone did not go through and double booked by host.No solution from host only to book us a shady one bed yet we booked 2 bedroom
