Chirk Cottage at Hill House Farm Cheshire

We very much enjoyed our stay at Chirk Cottage. Catherine met us personally upon arrival and showed us the cottage. Our daughter very much enjoyed playing with the puppies and dogs at the property and made good use of the trampoline. Wonderful experience when traveling with kids and looking for a relaxing stay and good sleep (super-comfy beds!).

Quaint but property is small. Beautiful location. This particular cottage is for couples only but people with families looking for larger properties it is a great location for families loads of room for young ones to left off steam. Live the homemade lemon drizzle cake on arrival

Sofa and armchair are not particularly comfortable. Toilet paper very thin.

The farm is a beautiful place to stay. Catherine and her family make you feel at home. It is a very comfortable relaxed setting to escape city life. You have access to walk around the farm and see the beautiful countryside. Catherine has also worked extremely hard to make an interactive map to ensure you get the most out of your stay. We took full advantage of the recommendations. The surrounding area is also a beautiful place to explore not five minutes away tucked up a small farm road is a beautiful little coffee shop. Also the Hollies farm shop has the best produce and goodies to bring home. It is also a beautiful place to sit and relax and have lunch.

Lovely comfortable little cottage set in beautiful countryside. Wry well equipped and thoughtful gestures such as cake on arrival.

A car was needed as it is quite rural

We were able to completely relax and recharge at the cottage. It was a well presented, clean space inside and the perfect size for a couple with a dog. We particularly liked the enclosed patio that has recently been added, where I sat each morning with a coffee, as well as a huge dog exercise field that we could let our dog safely off lead in. There were lots of books to read in the cottage and a smart tv to watch netflix. We loved lighting the log burner each night and there were beautiful views of the country each morning from the cottage. Lovely touches such as Easter treats and a box of things for the dog including a bed, towel, bowls and treats were really appreciated.

The hob/oven/grill isn't great - we made a roast dinner and it didn't turn out very well and the frying pan didn't get hot enough to properly cook a steak well. It's fine if you plan to eat out most of the time.

The location was good, with plenty of space around the farm to walk the dogs. The Bedroom was spacious.

The photos of the property are misleading with most of them showing a different, much larger property to Chirk Cottage. When I raised this with the owners I was told it was booking.,com that made the mistake and that I should have checked the square footage of the property I was booking! The radiators are not controlled within the property so to keep warm in the evenings we used the woodburning fire. When we asked for additional wood to keep warm on the last evening, I was told I would have to pay for it, as only one small bag of wood was provided for. I have stayed at many properties before but I have never had to pay additional fees to keep warm!!
