Waipū Thunder Domes no.1 offgrid eco glamping dome

The view was amazing and the dome was just like the picture posted. The hosts are also really lovely.

I would prefer a flushable toilet, but I do understand that it’s a eco dome so not a deal breaker.

Amazing views and very peaceful surroundings

The driveway is really steep - a 4WD would be better or at least a little maintenance to make it easier to ascend as it was very rutted.

My partner and I had an amazing stay at the Waipu Thunder Domes. The accommodation was unique, peaceful, and beautifully set in nature. Waking up to the stunning sunrise and falling asleep under the stars made the experience truly special. A perfect getaway, we would absolutely stay again.

Es war wirklich perfekt, der Gastgeber bot mir sogar an mich abzuholen, weil ich als Backpacker zu Fuß unterwegs war und die Waipu Caves besucht hatte. Die Ecke ist aber auch schön zu laufen, sodass ich verzichtete. Angekommen hatte man ein sehr familiäres Gefühl, die Thunderdomes waren wirklich ein Erlebnis mit viel Outdoor Charme. Ich konnte mich von meiner langen Wanderung perfekt erholen, am nächsten Morgen wurde ich nach Waipu mitgenommen. Wünsche der Familie alles Gute! Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland.

Location, the dome and it was very peaceful.

My only issue would be the outdoor furniture. Should consider painting or maybe sanding the chairs.

We stayed 2 nights. Beautiful place to stay Loved every minute. Driveway is fine. Alot of extra features not mentioned so cosy and has all you need the Heater in the Dome was bang on for those colder days. Shower not a problem nice and hot. Very clean and well kept. Highly Reccommend to all those needing to chill. Slice of Paradise. Sights spectacular. Close to Waipu 5 mins drive. Cant wait to come back and stay again.
