Snug apartment in the heart of Castleford

smell of Marijuana through out the whole flat.

The location of this apartment was good, within easy walking distance of the train station and shopping areas, which is just as well as you are advised not to drive here due to lack of parking facilities at the property and in the surrounding streets. Being at a crossroads, this apartment was quite noisy, particularly with "boy racers" revving engines and screeching off! Furnishings in the apartment are good, but the addition of some comfy seating, ie an armchair, would be a welcome addition

Hot water in the kitchen was scalding and the cold tap didn't work - since reported to owner so hopefully resolved. No heating at all in bathroom, or the kitchen (from the bathroom is accessed), so very cold when washing, taking a shower etc. Also there are no shelves/surfaces to place toiletries/personal items. There is a large TV in the main bedroom, but no instructions on how to access live TV - only Youtube/Netflix available (as far as I could see). I messaged the owner on arrival to ask, but the reply was uninformative. Although I found the bed comfortable, unfortunately that’s where the comfort ended. There are 2 high wooden bar stools in the kitchen (at a high table), but very hard to sit on for any period of time. Cushions might be a nice addition? Only one bedside cabinet in the bedroom, no dressing table or anywhere to place personal items/make up etc. No drawer space for belongings. The 2 wardrobes had a few hangers in each. The apartment is noisy, both from the roads below and the sandwich bar underneath which opens at 6am and from which voices can be clearly heard. The walls must be very thin as the neighbours voices can also be clearly heard (couple with 2 young children)

How easy to get into the property with the key in the blister combination lock. The double bed was very comfortable. There was a washing machine provided (although it wasn’t used)

The address should be 1 Beancroft Rd and not 1 Middle Oxford Street! Had problems finding the property in the dark. The Heater did not work in the double bedroom - lights came on, started to warm up and shut down after 3 minutes, although the same type of heater worked in the single bedroom, so the apartment was very cold. The shower wasn’t very effective as there wasn’t a spray or sprinkler shower - just water running out like a tap. Although there were sachets of coffee, tea and milk there should have been little sachets of soap and shampoo provided too, like in a hotel room. There is no heating rail in the bathroom. There was no frying pan provided in the kitchens, along with the saucepans. Three large internet TV was complicated to use: just no option to watch terrestrial TV stations provided with standard Freeview-type channels. There should be health & safety stickers on the double bedroom and kitchen doors indicating that there is a step or drop to the top of the stairs, just in case someone lost their step and ended up falling down the stairs. I did not like the parking “provided” as the young man who lived behind the property did not like me parking in his space. Parking consequently had to be found half way down Middle Oxford Street as couldn’t park anywhere else as would have blocked other residential entrances and garages.
