On the last day of my stay, I witnessed a man sexually abusing a cow, from the window of my room. Horrified, I immediately asked the hotel staff for help. To my shock, they refused to call the police and claimed they didn’t even know the emergency number. They made me wait for hours, from 6:00 PM until after 9:30 PM, saying we had to wait for the manager’s decision — who never showed up. Eventually, several men dressed in civilian clothes arrived with a threatening attitude. At first, we thought one of them was the manager, but it turned out they were local village authorities. They refused to involve the police and said they would "handle it" with a traditional ceremony. One of the men was even a relative of the abuser. We were indirectly threatened and pressured not to share the video we had recorded. The hotel never apologized, never offered protection or any real help. They left us completely unprotected, afraid, and confused. It was a horrifying situation. This hotel is located in a “cultural village,” which means that in case of a serious incident, you cannot count on help from the police or formal authorities. Even more disturbing is the fact that the victim was a cow — a sacred animal in Hindu culture — and the incident was minimized, with staff saying the man “had mental issues,” as if that were an excuse. If you care about safety, dignity, and animal welfare, do not stay here.

If I could give more stars I would! Such a hidden gem in Canggu, I would highly recommend, perfectly placed to walk to most places but also easier to get around if you don't fancy walking. The staff team here are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and everyone is so friendly, always smiling and always being so kind. Matt and I didn't want to leave we had such a wonderful time and we are already planning our trip to come back next year. I also want to give an extra special shout out to Dyoti, Intan and to be honest all the team. Thank you everyone. We were really sad to leave!
