"Mountain life"

9.0

The location and views were stunning and the communication first class. The information folder in the lodge was fantastic with great recommendations and write ups from Ben, which was just what we needed. The lodge was beautiful and sitting on the deck eating breakfast and tea was a real treat. I think the first entry into the lodge took all our breaths away. The lodge is a fair way from the Sequoia main park and sites like the biggest tree and log drive through. These were a couple of hours away and the roads are very much mountain roads which wind around with steep climbs and decents. This was not an issue for us as there was aot to see local(ish) to the lodge. I say ish as in the vast parklands nothing is close which is a new experience for us Brits. Sequoia and the drives in the mountains are beautiful although can impact on motion sickness sufferers and those fearful of heights and steep drops.

The beds were, unfortunately, terrible. The mattresses were so uncomfortable, they were very hard and we felt every spring. Sadly, this really impacted on both couples as we really didn't sleep well and all suffered with back and neck aches. This lidge was quite expensive, so this was disappointing and did impact on our stay, sadly. There are a lot of rules here too, which at first felt overwhelming, especially with regards to the neighbours, we didn't dare look at them, let alone venture near their properties in case we caused offence. It was hard to know where the property boundaries were to know if you were 'trespassing', so we opted not to explore locally. Looking after the remotes was also a worry. No one wants to pay $400 for a lost remote! Luckily, we didn't need to use the fire, so we avoided any potential fine there. You do have to remove your own rubbish. Not doing so comes at a hefty cost! This is the joy of mountain life, I guess. Luckily, we didn't have to drive too far to get rid of it properly.

"Perfect family getaway!"

10.0

We loved that it was tucked away in the mountain—quiet and cool and peaceful. It’s in a neighborhood so you’re not “on your own,” but it still feels pretty private and remote. There’s a little general store just a few minutes walk from the cabin in case you forget, say, coffee (ask me how I know).

"We had a great time would stay again."

Nice location beautiful view with the sound of the near by river.

Very nice place, it would have Benn nice to know the oven did not work before we arrived. Luckly for us we ened up using the grill for all of our food. there was a toaster oven but it was not accurate in temperature so we burned desearts.

Stunning views. Spacious property at great value for money. Hosts were very helpful and responsive as we amended our booking to stay a day longer - so glad we did!

Make sure you take plenty of fresh food with you and fill up with petrol/gas in Porterville

"Peaceful and wonderful stay."

9.0

You are located 1hr & 30min drive time from the Sequoia National Park. The "100 giants" are only 1hr away & no crowds. Clean!! The orientation book was very helpful! The wide deck & view are awesome! There is accessible waterfall 1hr away.

There was plenty of hot water, but mixing it with cold to the preferred level is a difficult task in the master bedroom. Very little turn leads to big difference in temperature.

"A gorgeous stay in the mountains"

9.0

The location of the house is stunning, as is the drive to and from the little town. It is a very long and windy road, but easily navigable. The facilities were great, the kitchen and laundry room came in really handy as we were part way through a longer trip. Sadly the weather was a bit rainy so we couldn't enjoy the terrace but in better weather, it would have been beautiful. The hosts were really friendly and helpful and we had no problem using the door code to enter the property. The wifi is strong too. The main bedroom had a lovely big, comfy bed - the other double was a bit creaky and the bunk bed room was very dark but on the whole a great experience for a short trip.

If some coffee could have been provided it would have been very welcome!
