Birds Nest, Romantic getaway with stunning views

Wow - what a stunning location. Beautiful views and a very comfortable and modern apartment in a historical & tastefully restored building. Kate & Mark are wonderful & thoughtful hosts with attention to detail throughout. You can tell they take great pride in what they do and they really want their guests to feel special and have a lovely stay. Which we absolutely did - we had a fantastic stay! We were very comfortable, the apartment was lovely and warm, the bed is super comfy, very clean throughout and a nice big bathroom. We started off our honeymoon at Birds Nest and for us it was perfect, we wanted somewhere we could hide away & relax for a few days before going abroad. We left so relaxed and had a wonderful stay. The apartment has a very chilled vibe and while Matlock is a great place with stunning countryside and lots of amazing things to do, for us the emphasis was on staying in, resting & being comfortable - we couldn't have picked a better place! We will definitely be back. Thank you!

Lots of nice touches from board games to biscuits

Lots of steps so not for older people. Room is at the top of the building so I did find myself ducking a lot as in the roof space. Wasn’t a problem but might be for others

Stairs, but without these, the view wouldn’t have been so great.

Unusual shaped windows mean it isn’t possible to fit blinds over all windows, if you’re a light sensitive sleeper I’d recommend packing an eye mask
