Johnston Apartments - Award-winning building, Your unforgettable stay

No hooks in bathroom. No shelf on shower. No mirrors in bedrooms. One bathroom containing the one toilet, will not be acceptable for more than a couple as guests. A couple of side tables in the lounge would be helpful. Main brm bedside lamps useless. The two flights of internal access stairs are high risk. Front door should open inwards and have a canopy for weather protection.

Location and Tess was very helpful

This is an apartment for friends who know each other well as it is not soundproof and ideally there should be a second loo not in the bathroon

The loft apartment in a turn of the century brick warehouse has won awards for their sympathetic renovation, and its an airy light space by the river and in a district with quirky cafes and galleries. Perfect location for exploring this vibrant wee city.

Not a dislike, but be aware there is not a lift and two steep flights of stairs. Worth the climb, but not for somebody with limited mobility/ability to carry luggage.

A pleasant 3 Bedroom apartment in a nice town. Whanganui was in a convenient location between Taupo & Wellington for our travels. The host was easy to get in contact & was very friendly to interact with when I had questions.

We had a hassle with the hot water in the shower. The host explained that the hot water was on the cold water side. The shower leaks a bit and the shower drain cannot handle the water flow. The apartment was very pleasant besides the shower.

We did not have b/f location was good

Had no rack for drying the washing - The stairs were difficult with luggage Parking was not the easiest

The property was in an amazing location, great spaces and had everything we needed.

It's a huge, stunning apartment, exactly as photographed. The location is perfect for walking to most of the places we wanted to visit. I would stay here again.

There are two flights of stairs to reach the unit with no elevator option, there is so much street noise that they left earplugs in the room (these solved it for sleeping), and there was a note from the host telling us to contact them if we needed anything, but they didn't give us any way to do so.

We had a 3 night stay at the Waterfront apartment. The building is lovely, the location is brilliant, the views great and Tess, the host (not the owner), was very helpful and kind. However, we think a bit of constructive feedback is appropriate... At the price we paid (NZ$ 1645) for three nights for this three bedroom apartment, one would expect at least an extra toilet... Or even en suites... There was only one bathroom. The beds in two of the 3 rooms are sadly way too narrow. Double beds in this type of accommodation is not good enough. Also, in our opinion (sorry, we are architects and creative people), we think the planning and interior design don't take any advantage of the real potential of this beautiful space. Like, there is far too much floor space that could have been utilised more elegantly & efficiently. And who will use the little dark, uninviting, corner space as an office? The furniture is another issue... there should be at least a decent chair in each bedroom, and the living area needs another comfortable armchair or two. A few minor, but important, details: The quality of the toilet paper should be better. There should be a proper size ice tray, or 2, in the freezer. The kitchen knives need sharpening! It would be nice to have a coffee plunger. This is advertised as "award winning and luxurious accommodation", alas it is sad to have to make the above comments as well as noting that all of the joinery and cabinetry "appears" to be "Mitre10 quality". This lovely old building deserves better, especially after all the work that has gone in to preserving it. The interior should be top notch quality as well. FYI: The shower door leaks and water washes over the floor. Obviously not healthy for the building. The door seal of the front door kept falling off.

The apartment was very spacious, with good furnishing and in a fantastic location

I think more towels could have been supplied. One towel per guest for 3 days is not enough And there was not a bottle opener !!
