Sequoia Riverfront Guest House Right On The Water

Absolutamente nada. Fuí estafado.

Nos estafaron. Hicimos la reserva y desaparecieron. Nunca contestaron nuestros mensajes, ni las llamadas telefómicas ni los correos. Llegamos al lugar y estuvimos mas de 2 horas esperando a que nis enviaran el codigo para acceder a la casa. Nunca nos lo enviaron. El lugar queda en el medio de la nada. Tuvimos que manejar mas de dos horas en el medio de la noche buscando otro hospedaje. Nos arruiraron el dia y la oportunidad de ir a Sequoia. Nunca obtuvimos respuesta. Al estar esperando en la entrada de la casa vimos que otros huespedes ingresaron a la que nosotros habiamos reservado. Pésimo todo. Incluso el lugar parece abandonado. Lleno de basura por todos lados. No es lo que parece por las fotos.

Comfortable bed and beautiful view.

No water when we arrived in the guest house or the main house. We had to go to town to go to the bathroom. They got it working after an hour so but the pump is in the river so all the dishes we washed had sediment. The bathroom sink clogged the first hand washing, they said they would send a plumber in the morning but never did, it was still full when we left. We bought drinking water for brushing our teeth in the kitchen sink, toilet paper which we had to start using for paper towels because there wasn't any extra. When we mentioned the plumber not showing up they never communicated with us ever again. The people in the main house didn't have heat, the HVAC guy finally came around 8pm we went to sleep around 9 he woke us up at 11:00 with a lot of banging and left at 11:30pm. The people in the main house left the next morning for good.

Small guest house, the location was great but everything in the home felt low value and run down. Pest control not present, found mice in the unit and lots of spiders. Not bad but also not great. The main house is a separate unit which was definitely awkward with the shared yard and the two private decks right next to eachother. The gated driveway was nice and the back yard was cool, but again rundown and not very maintained.

We loved the property and location! It was secure with a coded front gate and located on the river. We stayed in the guest house. It had everything we needed. It had plenty of room, a nice little kitchen, and a private bathroom. We made use of the small coffee maker but we had to locate an accessible electrical socket in the bedroom since the kitchen ones aren't really accessible. Not a big deal at all. The water is filtered from the river and our host noted that from the beginning. We had the whole place to ourselves since nobody was staying in the main house. The river is accessible from the property in several locations. The host was great! She was very attentive and gracious when we messaged her. Her instructions and provided information that was very detailed and helpful. We loved our stay here and would love to come back.

There were a lot of small things that made the accommodation less attractive than it could be. Overall impression is that the property is a bit shabby. Some examples…Rough, cheap towels, outdoor patio and furniture looked dirty, toilet seat was worn and had bare spots, all of the shower toiletries dispenser pumps were chipped or damaged, flies inside but no swatter, broken blinds on the front window so privacy was compromised, the only plug accessible for the coffee maker was next to the trash can so you had to brew with the maker on top of the trash can, concrete floor was uneven do the laminate flooring popped and cracked, wobbly and cheap clothes rack. An investment of about $300 would completely elevate the property. 1. Spend $50 and Replace the cheap curtain rod in the kitchen 2. Spend $50 and Replace the wobbly clothing rack 3. Spend $30 on new fluffy towels 4. Replace the broken toiletry dispensers with a wall mounted one that people won’t drop and break 4. Pull up the broken flooring planks and pour leveling compound the floor. 5. Install shelving above the trash can and place the coffee maker on the lower shelf with supplies in attractive containers or a basket along with mugs on an upper shelf. 6. Chalk board paint above the microwave cart with a “Welcome Guests” sign. 7. Replace the broken and ill fitting blinds on the front window and patio doors. 8. Toaster and box of Kleenex. Wi-Fi wasn’t strong enough for me to connect to the Booking.com message center. I couldn’t respond to any of the messages from our host. Lastly, over the course of a few months, I’ve received over 30 messages from Superhog (texts, emails and Booking.com messages) with reminders to do this or that or that my booking was incomplete even though the host told me to disregard them. It was annoying and off putting.
