"The accommodation was ok, basic and functional. Harwich itself was nice but if we returned we would choose somewhere wit"

7.0

Comfy beds. Quiet.

Only one bathroom and it was on a different floor to the bedrooms. Couldn’t control the heating ourselves and it was cold. No light bulbs in the lamps in the lounge. No view other than the dilapidated house next door. Old broken sink unit in the outside seating area. Tiny tv’s and the remote controls batteries were dead.

This was just a great little house in perfect spot. After we arrived and checked in, we simple walked fifty feet down the street and arrived at the seaside. The house had everything we needed, it was nice and cosy and warm. Quite a treat getting off the ferry and a perfect moment of rest before we moved on to England proper.

"Everything you need in an excellent position for Dovercourt beach and walkable to old Harwich."

9.0

Good house in a great location , just a couple of minutes walk from the beach, close to Dovercourt High Street and walkable to old Harwich and everything it has to offer. There is a good Coop close by. We could park our car for the weekend and not use it again if we wanted. The house has plenty of accommodation, a decent kitchen with a big fridge freezer and washing machine and a bath/shower that works well plus separate toilet. A really nice touch was having a lit Christmas tree in the lounge. Communication was good with Esther, all went to plan. Everything clean and tidy when we arrived and all beds made up. It was nice to have a welcome package of basics in the kitchen eg tea, coffee amongst other things plus washing up liquid, cloth etc The road was generally very quiet, particularly at night and parking close by on the street was not a problem to find. We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Beds not the most comfortable - a little soft, but have had a lot worse in holiday properties.

"Too Cold To Stay Out Of Season!"

1.0

The Location. Dog-friendly.

The previous reviews to this property give a slightly skewed idea of what this property is like, as I imagine guests visited when the weather was warmer, and did not experience the discomfort we had that forced us to abandon our family get-together early; having only spent one night here out of five booked. It could be that we were unfortunate to visit this property on one of the coldest days of the year. The property was very cold when we arrived and we could not adjust the heating as it was locked and there were no instructions. The owner was in a meeting when we phoned. She phoned back whilst we were out so it was two hours before we could manually set the heating. The heating was on constantly from 6pm until we left at 2pm the following day, by which time the temperature was 17c and with definite cold spots in the house, mainly the kitchen, bathroom and second toilet. It feels like the property is poorly insulated and might be a more comfortable place to stay in the warmer months of the year. The photos are accurate, but I think that is worth noting that both toilets (one bathroom not two) are located on the ground floor down a couple of steps from the kitchen, which itself is a couple of steps down from the Hall. We found the stairs very step and narrow, and there is no banister; not ideal with my wife I and both of being of an age when we use the toilet overnight! Just a few other things that you might like to be aware of: 1) All the double beds are placed against a wall, so if two people are sleeping in them, then the one nearest the wall would have to climb over the other to get out. 2) The boiler is in the back bedroom. This was the bedroom I slept in - with the boiler going all night I did not sleep well. 3) We found the request to not wear outdoor shoes in the house almost impossible to comply with, as there is no porch. 4) Instructions for anything are few and far between. 5) The large fridge prevents the use of some of the cupboards in the kitchen.
