Really fantastic! Had a great stay at this accommodation. They are still in the construction phase after the flood, so the whole site was not finished when we stayed there, but the stay was no less comfortable and the family is incredibly hospitable and helpful. Romy and his father are the best guides you could wish for so book a jungle tour (camping in the jungle possibly with boat) with them if you want to see Orangutans. Fantastic food also at the guesthouse and the cook who goes on a jungle tour also takes very good care of you. Had delicious meals. Although I don’t like camping this was a fantastic experience and we stayed 7 nights, 4 of which were in the jungle. In short: go here!

We felt very comfortable. Romy and his family helps with all questions. Romy is the third generation to be committed to the protection and preservation of the jungle and its animals. He is involved in many conservation projects, fights against poaching, and feels responsible for educating the local population. Don't hire an external guide. Romy and his father offer various tours and are the best with the most experience. We went on a 2-day tour that was very well organized. We saw orangutans. It was great!

The welcoming — or rather, the complete absence of it. The family running the place didn’t show any warmth or interest in their guests. No smiles, no greetings, just grumpy looks while everyone seemed busy on their phones. It felt like they might have had a great past, but today the atmosphere is indifferent and uninviting. The bungalow we were given was old and in poor condition. I checked a couple of the others and they looked newer and even had AC, but ours was leaning to one side and had no running water. I don’t mind rustic accommodations with bucket-flush bathrooms — we’ve stayed in many during our trip — but only when they’re clearly advertised as such. Here, you expect an inn, and instead you get a place that feels neglected and is visibly falling apart. At checkout, the owner even asked if we had any complaints, but after being ignored by him and his whole family for the entire stay, it felt pointless to start a conversation then. So here are the remarks — in the review, where they belong.

Very friendly family who owns this place. The rooms are surrounded by a beautiful garden and lots of plants. At night you can hear the river and in the morning some birds :) This place is so peaceful and calm. The food the family service is delicious, I loved the tofu and vegetable curry. I also went rafting with Romy which was amazing! I loved taking to the family at dinner and learn more about gunung leuser ecosystem and the endangered species living in the jungle. I would definitely recommend staying here!!
