Lovely modern appartment very close to Palacio do Pena in Sintra (we had a lovely 1h walk there through the park), about 5 min drive from Sintra centre

A very big apartment in a nice area.

There was no heat. It was February. When I asked the owners how to control the heat they said it had never worked and claimed they put it on the description. They didn’t because I would never have booked it. There was one electric heater for the entire apartment. We were too tired to find somewhere else that night but I told them we wouldn’t be able to stay the 3 nights we had booked. They offered to bring another plug in heater over - hours later they said they didn’t have another one. We ate dinner in our coats. It was 12C/55F in the apartment the next morning. The bathrooms are old with some black tile grout in places and a silverfish in one sink. We were told the dishwasher was broken. The fridge was old and stopped working for several hours nearly ruining our food and I got no response from the owners when I texted them. Luckily we noticed in time and my husband was able to get it working again. We could hear every voice, footstep, toilet flush, cough (and more) from the neighboring apartment. We got out of there as soon as we could after one miserable night. The owners refused to refund anything. It’s a pet friendly apartment on the booking site but they claimed they they didn’t know we were bringing our dog - we were supposed to ask permission which I didn’t know. There was no ATM close by for the €150 deposit which we offered to pay half in euros and half in dollars but they said we could pay it the next day. As we left the next morning we didn’t pay it. One of the owners inspected the apartment with us and agreed there was no damage. I’ve never been so relieved to leave a place before.

Very nice and friendly hosts, were happy to meet them. We are traveling with the dog and there were absolutely no questions or extra fees for that. Quiet and spacious place, close to Sintra. We were using the car, can not tell if that’s fine without it. Btw, there is a private parking as well

For us it was a bit cold, but not extremely and there is a hot shower and cozy bed for that
