Rooms were spacious and clean. It was comfortable. Check in and check out was easy.

Climbing the steps was a big challenge. Very bad steps with high risk of falling. It was not even fire compliant. In case of emergency it was not possible to climb down without falling. We wanted to store luggage for which they told us we can. When we went there was no staff there or remote. We had to want and finally we just left our luggage there and left. Then they said that it was to be left like that way only. But they should have instructed us about it.

The location and the room size

The stairway is very steep, the water basin is too small and too low, spill water when washing the face and brushing teeth.

"Just okay"

The location was great, it was quiet and staff was friendly

Unfortunately, it wasn't very clean and the towels had an unpleasant smell. The mini fridge in the room is very noisy and there was no space to put your luggage. Communication with staff was only remote (video call) and while everyone tried there best to accommodate, they also didn't have a lot of information about the area (seemed like none of them were locals). Alltogether, it wasn't terrible, but we have had much better experiences in this price range in Japan.

"Beautiful hotel, great location, but feels like a hostel."

7.0

The beds are really firm and low to the ground.. these were the most comfortable beds I've ever laid on. I slept so deep. The room had a window that could be opened, which was nice in the morning and evening. There was a shower only, no bathtub, which was large and amazing. It is an excellent location. The jinya morning market was small, and the Miyagawa Morning Market was much better. The location is great and near so many things. I easily walked to the Hie shrine and Castle ruins from here. I also appreciated the mini fridge and small dining table.

They don't have a staff that works in the lobby. Instead they have you use a screen to talk to someone in an office in another location, maybe in another country. As a female solo traveler, this made it feel unsafe. Most of the other guests seemed to be male backpackers. The feel of it was similar to a hostel. I heard some girls that sounded drunk being loud late at night in the stairwell. The vibe of this place seems better for people in their 20s and 30s without kids. It also has very very steep stairs, which is fine if you are in shape, but is difficult for rolling suitcases, disabled, children, or elderly. I think it just feels like a hostel for young people, especially without staff, so it feels better suited for young travelers. There is a common area with a kitchen and laundry. There's a shoe cubby outside the room which quickly made the place smell like dirty feet. I think this was due to the male backpackers staying here. But no staff on location meant nothing was done to help with the smell.
