Unusual layout and quite poetic … oh and it was big

The place is incredibly big. The location is good, and the price really convenient.

The water pressure in the shower was really weak, so it was a problem when taking a shower. There was no wifi, which makes life harder when you only have roaming data.

Easy check in, close by Caffè Europa, parking inside.

Location - the airport shuttle bus, cost 4 eur only, stops 200 m from there. The buses to the central station and others - less the 100 m. Good, quiet, more well-being and modern part of Catania, although with many historical buildings. No ghettoes of imigrants there, very pleasant airy alley with luxorious shops and seats of public institutions. It is important compared with areas more near Central station where many houses look like ruins inside and you are afraid to enter the staircase or the inside balconies which give you access to your door, because it looks like it can not support your weight. From the main attractions it is a little bit far (45 minutes to 1,5 hours walking distance), but there are frequent bus. House: It is an authentic, middle size, end of the XVIIIth century "palazzo", from the time of rebuilding boom after the 1693 earthquake. And it is an experience to enjoy staying in such a place. The rooms, big and high, have halve-cupola-vaults (not so shallow cupolas) with well preserved frescoes. Not by Tiepolo, but anyway. Big beds. Air condition in such a place is arranged in an exotic way, with a pipe through the window, but you will not bother if you like to be near the leaving history. Also it works as it should, not obvious in Italy. The rooms and the bathroom is a part of the residence part of the palazzo, so called "piano nobile" (a floor in which the nobles lived in). The bathroom is then big, old -fashioned, but clean and everything works. And you have authentic marble many places. The rest of the "piano nobile", now divided from us by a new wall, has a restaurant, which is however completely quiet - no noise. The kitchen, sufficiently (for 2 people who do not cook a lot) equipped, is in the next floor, historically the servants quarter (or for the poorer family members), interesting to explore as you not always er shown such things in a museum - palace, nice dining room at side.

I liked everything, but I mean staying there longer when one cooks own meals twice a day like us, could be challenging. You need to go up to the kitchen, narrow stairs (also historical, partly in marble however), and the cookings facilities will not allow you to prepare a demanding dish, and it would take time. However,, to make tea or coffee, prepare cuscus or porridge, it works. When it is hot, emptying the vessel which takes the water from the aircon will require your action maybe every 2. hour, also at night. For 1- 2 nights, if you do not really need to cook, it is perfect - if you are not spoiled by modern interiors, like living history, and are physically fit to climb the stairs.

The house is improvized for living. Dark, cold, noisy at night. The sofa is broken. We did not sleep at all at night, we counted the hours until we had to get up. There is an improvized air conditioning for heating, in one of the rooms. A hole is made in the window for the exhaustion tube, that prevents the window blind to close, so the light from the street brightened the bedroom, not to mention the NOISE. Extremely far away from the center, impossible to walk. 20 min walk from the train station, although they say 5 min. The kitchen is on a firt floor, we found it hard to reach.
