Hotel Acme Inn

The location is great, in the middle of Thamel. Rooms are comfortable and airy, some with balconies facing the sun. Breakfast is good: eggs, potatoes/toast/croissants sometimes, juice, yoghurt, cornflakes, sometimes other varieties... Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Sohan. Pleasant garden with grass, a shelter from sun or rain.

A cafetiere or filter of the excellent Nepali coffee would be nice, in order to fully appreciate the garden.

good location, fairly clean, good looking from the outsidw with spacious garden

very dissapointed with this hotel. we booked it for 2 nights (group of 4) and it was far from convenient. only the location & spacious "garden" were right. otherwise I can't find more pros, lots of cons though. main one: no hot water. I can understand some properties rely on solar panels in Nepal. but hey, what do I care as a hotel client? this is not some backpacker joint, only mid-level accommodation in the heart of a capital city, at least that's how they advertise. all other places we've stayed in (even simple himalayan teahouses) had at least one gas heated shower cabin to be shared by guests in case when panels don't generate energy. there was nothing like that in Acme and the staff seem not to care about it at all, like hot water was some crazy western invention. they shrug their arms, not willing to find any solution at all. eventually we proposed buckets with hot water, but it wasn't like they were given willingly. it was rather a painful and time consuming activity to boil it for us. so yeah, staff of Acme was far from hospitable. note that the hotel is also poorly soundproofed. you can hear music from pubs next door, loud talks from your neighbours and tons of pigeons, that actually live behind your window - something to be taken care of by any decent hotel. well, Acme isn't one
