only 3 wine glasses and 15 waterglasses. Would have been good with some more glasses for wine and sparkeling.

The location is pretty good, a narrow street within reach of shops, restaurants and bars, about a kilometre from the Piazza Unita. The building itself is possibly 100 years old but well kept. Apt is on the first floor, stairs or lift. The accommodation is airy, high-ceilinged and quite spacious. The windows onto the street are modern and have shutters but the narrow street is noisy and you can't really have the windows open if noise bothers you. One of the best apartments we have stayed in in Italy at this price level.

The accommodation is run by a company. Not ideal. Before arriving you are supposed to fill out forms and scan passports etc. The form did not work when I tried to fill it out, a software glitch I think. Speaking to one of the team on the phone sorted it out, but it took time. The other problems were quite minor. Details of entry were sent by wattsapp but some of the instructions were wrong. Directions to the key box said they'd be on the left, but you turn right first for instance. You enter the building, go up to the first floor. The instructions tell you where to go and says the apt door is on the left. It isn't - it's in front of you. I was trying to get into the door on the left when the owner appeared - he probably thought we were trying to break into his place! But he was calm and understanding. Luckily. The lighting in the apt is a bit glaring. The Wi-Fi password is longest I ever saw. The shower is the smallest I ever saw! Some of the above is only very minor but when it's dark and you are fiddling about trying to open a keybox that doesn't look right or you are found trying to get into the wrong flat it can be stressful. We much prefer an arrangement where you meet the owner or someone - a real person at least - problems can be sorted so much more quickly.

Overall I liked the apartment, everything was good: area, cleanliness, comfortability, location etc. I knew that there was no air conditioner so I was pleasantly surprised to find the "penguin" one in the bedroom, which was very helpful in the first half of August.

Unfortunately the penguin was pretty noisy (it stands right near the bed), and real temperatures with the same settings (f.e. 22C) could differ significantly (maybe you should change the temperature right after turning on). Still, it is better than not having any cooling. Also it would be good to have at least a fan in the living room.

The property was advertised as two bedrooms and it was inconvenient that we had to sleep in the same room. In reality the flat was a one bedroom with a sofa bed in the lounge/kitchen. The single beds were comfortable but very narrow. The mattress cover was badly stained with blood, it should be removed and washed after each visit. Why did we need to leave cash for the city tax when we left the property?

Beautiful and big apartment, very well organized, close to the center and the Port of the city. The communication with the manager was also perfect. We enjoyed our stay in Palazzo Crispi, Trieste!
