Cherry Grove efficiency just steps from the beach

Bed to small

Bed was comfy, but too small.

This place started off fine. Until we were unpacking and an American Cockroach emerged from underneath the kitchen cabinet. My fiance trapped it with a glass while we tried to find something to kill it with. I texted the host who claimed just because it was a Palmetto Bug, it’s not as bad as a cockroach, and to just kill it. We did, after pondering the idea of different items to kill it with (we didn’t want to use our own, because eww). The place was covered with sand (which we vacuumed after the roach incident) accompanied with wall paneling that was bowed in and exposing the sheathing of the already poorly insulated and sealed wall. I work in construction, and the state of the kitchen wall’s humidity damage in rough shape, and I’m not surprised the roaches got in. A poor touch was that the thermostat was on low battery, and the AC kept shutting off, and we’d come back every few hours to a hot apartment with the dehumidifier bucket full. Due to fear of humidity attracting more “palmetto bugs”, we had to budget in time on our trip itinerary to come back to the apartment and restart the AC and empty the Dehumidifier bucket. Wi-Fi was slow due to how many smart devices are linked to it, with limited outlets due to the amount of devices plugged in. The upstairs neighbors are very loud, it sounded like moving furniture from 6-10 am DAILY. Host also didn’t tell us where to throw out the trash, but luckily a nice tenant upstairs showed us where. My fiance stubbed his toe on one of the bar stool and the frame broke apart. Not only did I live my literal travel nightmare of finding roaches in my accommodation, the host was apathetic to our experience as guests on vacation, and completely missed the point that lack of proper cleaning (from the day before they claim) led to us being greeted by an unexpected visitor. And if it wasn’t due to poor cleaning, than it’s entry was from the literal holes in the wall, and was likely joining the guests who checked out July 21st 2025.

No pool as advertised, people staying in other apartments were outside drinking and being loud, ended up fighting and police were called- i think they lived there full time
