The Hut

The Hut had everything you needed to sleep comfortably with a welcoming owner.

The facilities did not allow for preparing your own meals. There was a fire pit, but seating outside could be upgraded to table and chairs.

These comments would not stop us returning as we did really like the hut, we just feel our experience could have been improved with clearer information in the listing! The facilities which are not as stated… * No hob so not a kitchenette - microwave, toaster & kettle are listed separately to kitchenette as facilities. Could have brought a camping stove had we known! * The refrigerator is a mini fridge, which doesn’t fit much in & also didn’t keep anything cold so unfortunately lots of our food went off. We wouldn’t have brought the amount we did or brought our electric cool box, had we known! Thankyou for leaving a little milk in there though, that was a nice surprise. * Outdoor dining area. There is a bench & a log to sit on but no table. Would have brought our camping one, had we realised! Nice touch having blankets available! * BBQ - Rusty & filthy top, needs a good clean. We bought some BBQ trays so we could use it!!! Nice that there were logs to use as a firepit though! Whilst not a big deal, the hut could have benefited from a clothes rail being fixed to the wall as there is space to fit one! Cleaning could have had a little more attention prior to our arrival. There were what appeared to be coffee stains on the kitchen sink, walls around the sink in kitchen area and in the cupboard underneath the sink. There were some wipes in the cupboard though so i used these and they were easy to remove so needn’t have been there.

It was very cosy, parking is secure and on good grounds. Close to Ross on Wye. Milk in fridge was a lovely suprise.

I'm 6'5 and my neck was bent when walking around. Shower switch is in main room, could provide a label for it. Signal/WiFi was poor. Spent most of night in local pub to get WiFi. Beds were quite uncomfortable.

Location was good, although the road was noisy first thing. We could sit outside in the courtyard space, as the weather was hot. We took fold up chairs. The bed was comfortable. Kitchenette was fine. It was well thought out and the shower worked well. The water was always hot. The bedding and towels were good. The owner was very helpful. The drive had a very good security gate.

It needed lots of TLC, especially the courtyard which needed weeding. Thistles were growing. Plant pot flowers dead. No comfortable seat outside, the bench was broken. No fridge, which was needed. There was a cabinet, but it didn't work. The fire pit was rusty and not fit for purpose. A set of hanging pegs would have been good in the bathroom At nearly £100 a night it was expensive for the general condition. We had to de-spider the hut. It wasn't like the photo on this site.

Great location. Fire pit a bonus.

Just pack light, eat out and this will be a perfect place to stay.

Location

On arrival we were very disappointed. The first thing we seen was an over grown sitting area where there was one bench that was broken, and the plastic log store also broken. The fire pit/cooking area had rubbish and cigarette nubs in it. We went into the Hut to find the kitchen hadn’t been wiped down. Crumbs on work top, dirty fridge, hair in sink, kettle had water in from previous people and the kettle and toaster had both not been wiped either. We sat at the table where my elbow got stuck in sticky dew on the table. Clearly not been wiped down. The floor area looked like it had been wiped to the sides. Dust and hair. Hairs on the bed. And also in the bathroom. The shower was not clean. I can only attach 4 photos unfortunately
