INA HOUSE GION

One of the most spacious places we stayed at during our vacation in Japan, nice room, and great location!

Great location, nice size room!

Not much natural light but we didn’t spend a ton of time in the room.

Easy self check in, good facilities such as a small kitchen and laundry. Location was excellent right in the centre of Gion with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Balcony was also nice.

Studio sized apartment-like setting in Gion part of Kyoto. The studio has a small stove (did not use), microwave (worked fine), fridge (dorm sized), and hot water kettle. The location is near the main street, so close to many of the temples, etc. Check-in is communicated through Booking's messaging service with code given to front door and combo to lock at door to get key. The room was ready a bit early, which was nice. The room was of decent size with a better than average bed by US standards for Japan - albeit still on the firm side. The bathroom is located next to the toilet / vanity as a separate room and is more the traditional Japanese style with a soaking tub and shower area adjacent. The entire room is a wet area, but you can take a stand-up shower just fine. There are two convenience stores 1 block away and a full grocery about two blocks away. Everything was clean and worked fine.

There is noise from the street which makes sleeping with the window open not a real option. There is a heat pump style unit, so temperature can be regulated, but noise may be a problem for real light sleepers. The only other item that would be helpful is if there were some hooks put up in the toilet / sink area of the full bath to hang clothes and towels.
