Ysabelle's Inn

Sehr schönes Homestay! Wir waren in einem tollen kleinen Studio, was einen sehr modernen neuen Eindruck gemacht hat. Die Lage ist etwas abseits, aber man kann zu Fuß trotzdem alles problemlos erreichen und hat dafür Abends seine Ruhe :) Die Besitzer waren super freundlich und hilfsbereit, sie haben zwei Touren für uns gebucht, die beide top waren und haben uns sogar persönlich um 5 Uhr morgens zum Flughafen gebracht.

The room is clean upon check-in, with cleaning and linen changes every three days. You must take out your trash daily. The beach is a 5-7-minute walk away; it's uninhabited and has no amenities. At the end of the beach, there's a pontoon (for two boats from the nearest hotel), which is where you can swim, which everyone does. Boats usually leave in the morning and return in the evening. The beach has high and low tides, depending on the moon. People often come to El Nido for three days just to take tours of the nearby islands. If that's your option, it's a great location, quiet from the mopeds, and you can at least sleep at night. In any case, take earplugs (chickens, rain, thunder, frogs).

If you're staying longer, it's better to choose a location away from El Nido altogether, somewhere farther away and quieter, near a good beach. El Nido as a town has absolutely nothing to do (the two bars and restaurants don't count; they're just places to eat safely).

After missing our connection in Manila, we finally arrived into El Nido at 6:30 AM and were warmly welcomed by our hostess with a clean room, dark curtains, and excellent internet. The nearby beach has amazing sunsets but isn't a swimming beach. It is a short walk into the main part of town and an easy tricycle ride to Vanilla Beach that is great for swimming. Being on the access road means that the prices are better than in the main part of El Nido. We especially loved Mia's bistro that is just down the street.

Infrastructure issues were really frustrating. We had complete power outages twice (one for a full day) though we appreciate that they ran the generator off and on - it didn't power the AC. Water came out of the shower as a trickle and was completely out at various time during our 8 day stay. Nothing more frustrating than to spend a day on the ocean and not be able to shower afterward. Filtered water was available in the office downstairs but ran really slowly and was a 10 minute job to fill a bottle. The roads in El Nido aren't fully paved and get very muddy and flooded when it rains. We would have really appreciated having hooks to hang wet clothing on and a broom to manage the sand that was constantly getting onto the floor.

Ich hatte eine gute Zeit im Ysabelle‘s Inn. Es ist ein schönes kleines Hotel in ruhiger Lage. Meine Hauptsorge in El Nido war es, nicht vor den Touristenmassen und Lautstärke fliehen zu können. Hier ist es angenehm ruhig, man hört abends die Frösche. Dennoch ist man sehr einfach durch 10min Fußweg im Hauptort - praktisch. Fußläufig in Caalan gibt es außerdem paar Lokale und Restaurants (Mia‘s Bistro fand ich sehr gut). Die Inhaberin des Hotels ist sehr herzlich, nett und zuvorkommend. Es gibt kostenloses Trinkwasser und sogar heißes Wasser. Die AC funktioniert gut; der Balkon ist nett; die Fenster sind abgedunkelt; es gibt sogar einen Föhn und Wäscheservice.

Es gibt nur zwei Steckdosen direkt neben dem Bett. Das ist unpraktisch, wenn man sich zB föhnen will.
