GBChilly was a great host. He helped us arrange a bus from Hanoi to the homestay, along with activities during the stay. We did the 4 hour hike through the national park to the homestay which was a great experience. The location of the homestay was beautiful, tranquil and perfect to escape for a couple of days to explore rural Vietnam and the Cat Ba Islands. We did the boat trip around the Cat Ba islands, which included kayaking - would highly recommend! The rooms were comfortable and it was lovely to sit in the evening and eat with the other guests to exchange travel stories. The village itself is very quiet, but there is also a restaurant next door where you can eat. We stayed for 3 nights, and I think this was the perfect amount of time. I would highly recommend!
The only thing that could be improved would be the quality of the breakfast.

DEGBExcellent location near National Park and away from crowds. Nothing was too much for our homestay host, Chilly. He arranged all transfers and activities. The hike up to Navy Peak and Frog Pond were fantastic but you need a certain level of fitness and good walking shoes!
Would have liked more comfortable chairs in communal area.

Only problem was that there was only one double plug socket which is difficult when there are two people
