Viet Hai Lan Homestay

Location is unique - village, where this homestay is located, is reachable only by boat or 12km hike through the jungle. You have to pay attention, that you will have to pay extra for the boat, so stay expenses might get a bit higher. even though- the experience there is amazing. There is complete silence at the night, fresh air, and gorgeous garden, that surrounds lovely bungalows. Stuff is super helpful - they took care of everything - speed boat to get there, electric car from harbour to their homestay, tours, tips and so on- no delays, no misunderstandings. Everything was great.

It might be a little bit chilly in bungalows, if you are travelling at winter time.

All guests are well taken care of by Chilly and Ha. From meals and service to tour bookings and transportation arrangements, they handle everything wonderfully. Thumbs up to both of them!

Amazing isolated location, beautiful scenery. Chilly was really helpful at arranging transport logistics. He arranged for our luggage to get to park HQ after our hike - very smooth transfer. Family dinner was a great way to meet other travellers (but eating outside in January was very cold!) I liked the honesty bar, we could help ourselves to drinks and snacks whenever and just pay at the end.

Very limited hot water. Staff would come around and turn off the hot water switch when using it, without explaining why - this felt very rude. We never managed to have a shower that remained hot for more than a minute. On the day of checkout cleaning equipment and new towels and sheets were put on our balcony hours before check-out time. This felt like we were rushed to leave and that we couldn’t enjoy relaxing on the balcony any longer. Food was average, and the hygiene standards could certainly be improved.

De ligging, de inrichting, de eigenaar en de medewerkers, het was allemaal waar je van droomt op vakantie. Ga zeker ook wandelen naar de Navy Peak. Mooi uitzicht over land en baai.

The place is located at the entrance to the remote village in the national park. The object offers severals bungalows surrounded by garden: really beautiful place with flowers and small pools full of fish. The bungalows are clean and have basic equipment. The manager will help you with transport and arrangement of exploration of Cat Ba (however it may be easier to explore Cat Ba bay from Cat Ba town: more options). There are several trekking routes around: Navy Peak, Ancient House. The place if worth to stay more than 1 night. After evening there are not many tourist left in the village.

Food is not very special. If you have time visit Ancient House for better option.

Wonderful and relaxing. Given the location the accommodations was as expected

The bathrooms smelt awful. Hard on the nose. Would highly suggest to take air freshener or smelly candles to cover the smell

It was an amazing experience. It wasn't luxury but it was clean and comfortable and the gardens were incredible. The food wasn't fancy but it was well done and tasty. The staff was hospitable, speaking perfect english, willing to make arrangements for getting there and back.

I would have liked better coffee... it is Vietnam! The shower without walls was a challenge at first but for just a couple of days it was fine. At low tide, getting off the speedboat was scary (being dragged up the wall). The boat tour of the bay was also not deluxe but was super fun and quite spectacular... it was also very inexpensive.
