Il Cantuccio di Vittorio - Apartment with private garden in the Heart of Volterra

Appartamento al top! Ampio e con un cortile interno provato curatissimo. Peccato aver soggiornato solo una notte. Se tornerò a Volterra, ritornerò anche al Cantuccio.

We were travelling to Tuscany for a wedding in Volterra, at Palazzo dei Priori and Villa le Capanne, so we were hoping to find a convenient base for our time there. We couldn't have been happier with our experience at Il Cantuccio! It was practically perfect in every respect, and tremendous value as well. Firstly, Vittorio was the ideal host, instantly responding to any pre-trip queries and providing detailed, helpful advice about arrival in Volterra, parking, restaurants, bakeries, and other tips to make the most of our visit. On the day we arrived, the entry to the apartment was simple and straightforward, and we were delighted with the little treats we found in the kitchen to welcome us to Volterra. Our rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, well-presented, and the bathroom/kitchen were modern and packed with all the conveniences you might want (TV, coffee-maker, iron, hairdryer, etc). Then we discovered the garden and we were in heaven! One of the most beautiful and peaceful gardens I've seen attached to a Booking or Airbnb stay with flowers, sculptures, multiple seats and tables, and even a barbecue. We started each morning with a coffee and a cake, ready to enjoy the rest of our day from that perfect start. Il Cantuccio is just a short walk from all of Volterra's highlights, and it's near the "top of town", so there isn't a big hill to tackle to get to where you want from there. Vittorio was always on hand to offer advice and tips as well. I've travelled around most European countries and stayed in countless Booking and Airbnbs over the years, and I cannot think of another that offered such good value for the cost, and which exceeded every single expectation for quality and comfort. Others in the wedding party were staying in a hotel slightly closer to the centre, and their nights were often disturbed by street noise. We weren't. This place is a real gem.

If I were forced to identify anything that wasn't ideal, I might suggest the hanger rail in one of the wardrobes was a bit flimsy. That's it.

We stayed four nights in this comfortable 2-bedroom apartment in a terrific location just a short walk to the Piazza dei Priori and plenty of dining and shopping options. The apartment had a modern bathroom with good shower, 1 double bedroom, 1 bedroom with twin beds, a kitchen/dining area and a living room with flat screen TV. The kitchen was really well-equipped with beautiful glassware, cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, fridge/freezer, kettle, moka pot and plenty of ground coffee, gas cooktop, oven, microwave, kettle, and dishwasher. The full-size washing machine/dryer was a bonus as there were 3 of us! The bedroom with twin beds was pretty noisy early in the mornings as it faced directly on to the street. Even though we were on the first floor (2 flights of stairs), the apartment had a little garden with a BBQ and an alfresco seating area. Vittorio is a very responsive and helpful host. This is a terrific option for a old town Volterra stay!

Everything was perfect, Vittorio is a great host, and I enjoyed staying there, I wish I could stay more. The apartment is newly renovated, and there are small details with beautiful touches in every corner.

One of the best stays we had while in Italy for a month. Vittorio was just a text away. The apartment was as described and more. Everything was thought of to make our stay extra special. It was very clean and included all you would need to cook your own meals and enjoy them inside or in the beautiful garden just outside the kitchen door. I can’t express enough what a perfect stay we had because of all of the little details that were included in every room. We will stay here again when we return.

The location of the apartment was so convenient. The town of Volterra is also a beautiful place and situated so that you can visit many surrounding places and the beautiful countryside if you choose.
