Hollicarrs - Honeycomb Lodge

The location was perfect, nice and quiet , comfortable and relaxing. One of the nicest places I’ve stayed.

Beautiful lodge, really great facilities. Nice nature trail to follow. Well located and getting an Uber from the entrance is easy enough.

Visited in December 2025 with our 17 & 15yr old sons. The location was perfect and easy to get to, less than an hour's drive from Sheffield. Lots of the lodges were beautifully decorated with Christmas lights. The staff were very warm and welcoming and the lodge was beautiful inside and outside huge but cozy clean and very warm. The small but big touches such as a nice lit Christmas tree lots of throws bath robes variety of biscuits tea coffee cleaning products board games etc made out stay very comfortable. Particularly impressive was the hot tub with adjoining doors from both rooms for easy access and privacy.

The weekend just wasn't long enough!!!

We booked the Honeycomb Lodge early in the year and were really looking forward to our stay after reading so many positive reviews. Check-in was quick, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The lodge itself was clean and modern on arrival. However, the main issue was the hot tub, which was one of the main reasons we chose this lodge. The water was cold, and after contacting reception, staff arrived promptly and explained that they had been experiencing problems with it all week. Unfortunately, as it was the weekend, they were unable to repair it during our stay. We were offered an alternative lodge with a working hot tub, but it was pet-friendly, and my wife had allergies, so it wasn’t suitable. It was also noticeably colder and not as nice as the lodge we originally booked. We chose to stay in Honeycomb Lodge, and staff advised that we could use the hot tub in the other lodge instead, which meant going back and forth—far from ideal. What made the situation more disappointing was that no discount or refund could be offered because the booking was made through Booking.com. It was a real shame, especially for the children, as the hot tub was a big part of why we chose this accommodation. If it had been working, we would gladly have given the lodge top marks.

The location is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by gorgeous countryside walks. Hot tub is fantastic and sits at the back of the property with both bedrooms having direct access to it through their separate bathrooms which makes it incredibly convenient and feels very private. We loved just sitting out the front having our breakfasts and dinner listening to the wind blow through the trees and the birds chirping, such a wonderful break. The park was very quiet when we visited despite there being a lot of Lodges. Very short drive into york which suited our needs. The lady at reception was so lovely to speak to and she explained everything really well. The lodge itself was nicely decorated and clean and well appointed bar the odd thing. The beds were very comfortable. Will definitely be returning as we absolutely loved it!!

It's a shame honeycomb lodge doesn't allow dogs as we will definitely be returning to Hollicarrs but will be enquiring about a dog friendly lodge as we really want to being our little dogs on the next visit as the surrounding countryside is perfect for dog walking. I think you could probably get a lot more people wanting to stay if you could make the decking and bbq area dog secure with gates and allowed very well behaved dogs to visit. Missing a few wine glasses. Fridge was quite small but was mostly fine although I image if you were staying for a week you might need to do a few grocery trips as I don't know if it could hold a whole weeks food for 4 people although there is a large separate freezer which is great. Could feel where the 2 mattresses join up when configured as a king, a mattress toppers would remedy this. Quite a few wasps and hornets, could benefit from those candles that repel them maybe.

Clean, modern and comfortable. Would defintely stay for longer next time.

The weather at the time. Didn’t manage to do any of the walks recommended near property but will be back! There’s a few and the area is lovely.
