Marygate by Deuce Hotels Ltd

I had stayed before so knew what to expect. The room was modern and spacious with kitchen and minimal but adequate equipment (two each of cutlery/crockery etc). There was a desk which is good for a business trip but also sofa and table for two to eat at. Excellent WiFi.

The entrance is underwhelming but not a problem. Entry is by code so you need to record that. It would have helped to have pre-warmed the room but the wall heater worked well when switched on. Instructions for the TV would have helped but you get used to how these things work with a bit of trial and error.

Clean but tiny apartment with everything crammed in including an oven! Was attending an event in Leeds so "did the job" fine. Only 7 mins walk to the station. Very reasonable priced also, especially bearing in mind there were 15,000 people at the event.

Noisy but due to drunken louts shouting at each other in the streets below at 2-4am every day of the week. Not really the fault of the hotel. Don't know whether that is just Wakefield or most town centres these days.

The location was excellent as it was central and within easy walking distance of the train station. I found the location quiet on a Wednesday night which made it easy to sleep. The bed was extremely comfortable and the apartment was spotless. Lovely hot shower in the morning and the bathroom and kitchenette fixture and fittings were of a high standard. The host also communicated the door opening codes via email and in a timely way which was helpful.

A new kettle is needed in the kitchen as it looked green at the bottom so I couldn't use it to make a hot drink on arrival. The host had thoughtfully left some coffee sachets. Some instructions on how to unlock the microwave and how to use it would be helpful as this is an alternative way to make a hot drink. Even though the apartment is meant to be non smoking there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the apartment when I arrived so I opened all the windows to ventilate which got rid of it. Its a shame as this initally detracted from what was an otherwise spotlessly clean apartment.

The location was really good and the bed was really comfortable

The apartment lacked maintenance as the dining table looked like someone had hit it with a hammer, the kitchen worktop was badly damaged at one end, the bathroom looked really good but the shower hose was leaking at the shower head and one of the roller blinds was missing the chain to operate the blind. Despite these items I would stay again.

The cleaniless of the apartment and the facilities were ample for a work trip.

Could do with some paint to refresh it the sitting area and bedroom.
