Riad dar Tayri

We've had an excellent stay at Riad dar Tayri. The calm of renting a whole apartment is always a good thing. Breakfast was superior with freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh omelet every morning. It was a bit hard to discuss some details with the lady who created the breakfast because we didn't share the same language but we always succeeded, thanks to Google Translate. It was a lot easier to talk with Carolina, the owner, who speaks English well. Both of them were kind and helpful to us. Your own rooftop is excellent for relaxing or talking with friends. Rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable, everything is brand new. All rooms have air conditioning with heating capability which is helpful on the cool nights in February. We did not try the pool because it is not heated, so it was too cold, but it can be very good on warmer days. The location is also excellent, about a 15 minute walk from Jemaa el-Fna, in a very quiet neighborhood, near one of the king's palaces which is guarded by military, so we felt ourselves totally safe.

The shower head is bronze which heats up very quickly if you just open the hot water so take care of it. I think it's common in Morocco so it's not the riad's fault, but it can be odd if you come from Europe like us.

A riad in an excellent location, conveniently located for the Medina and Kasbah districts, lovingly restored using Moroccan craft and materials, and tactfully modernised for improved comfort (glazing, air-conditioning, washing machine, ironing board, fruit blender etc.) Lovely natural fabrics, gorgeous tiles, carved woodwork and quality ceramics used throughout. Rooftop terrace with a clear view of the Koutoubia mosque (not to mention a nearby storks' nest). All modern amenities available. The owner, Caroline, is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about local hidden treasures. We loved our stay, would go again in a heartbeat.
