Casa Faro

Es gibt dort kein Frühstück, da es ein Apartment ist. Die Lage ist gut, 5 Minuten von der Promenade mit Strand und dem Hafen weg. Die Wohnung ist im 1. Stock und sehr heimelig, perfekt für 2 Personen. Die Möbel sind alle aus dunklem Holz, schon fast antik. Die Wohnung hat eine grosse Terrasse mit Tisch und Stühlen, wo man abends noch sitzen kann. Die Klimaanlagen funktionieren perfekt. Die Gastgeberin ist sehr sympathisch, spricht aber nur italienisch.

Das Bad ist etwas eng. Die Küche eher klein, falls man da selber kochen will.

Originally we booked the place on the ground floor, but after a chat with the hosts, we switched it with the upper apartment. This one was very sunny and cosy, with a lot of varied, antique equipment. Big terrace allows to catch sun even before going to the beach, which is street away. San Leone lives around the promenade and is mostly alive on weekends with street food, vendors and even amusement park near the marina. After weekend it's quite cozy, serving mostly locals. Restaurants had really good sea food, I recommend grilled sword fish! Summing up: I wouldn't stay here for longer, but for short rest during the road - it served its purpose.

The place on the ground floor is quite dark and not very welcoming, it feels also a bit damp. As it is near the street, it's hard to open windows and put some air inside. We switched to the upper apartment after discussion with hosts, and it was much better. The beach in San Leone is sandy, but not clean - which is quite common and repulsive in Sicily.

The sea is close, but the nearest beach is several kilometers away. Very noisy. From cars and pedestrians and from neighbors from above, plus the sound from the pump supplying water. Clean enough. Check-in from 16-00 in fact settled closer to 17. Departure at 10, did not wait, left earlier. Parking is a problem, it's tedious to look for a place in the neighboring blocks. More than one night is hardly suitable.

The water pump makes very funny noise.
