Manuscript - Jhilwara Haveli

The stay at Manuscript was pleasant. Beautiful views everywhere, it is amidst the old town of Udaipur, so we were surrounded with lovely old time houses and the city palace was just behind the property. The location is the highlight of this stay, cause city palace and Lake Pichola are just walking distance and these two have to be our favourite places at Udaipur. Everything else is easily accessible via Uber taxis and autos. The room size was decent, we were provided with an extra cot for our 7 year old, which compromised slightly with the room size. A small window with sofa, overlooking the scenic view outside was my favourite highlight of the room. Special mention has to be made of the amazing collection of books provided by the hotel - it is mesmerizing and it is quite tempting to just cozy up by the window with your cup of coffee and keep reading. The night view of the city palace is also amazing from the terrace. The restaurants are decent, though pricey. The breakfast spread was Good and tasty with multiple options. The staff was extremely polite and considerate. Overall, a perfect amalgamation of Heritage meets modern..

During our stay, we just happened to Google the prices of our room, and since we had booked almost 2 months in advance, we ended up paying 3k extra!! So if you are looking for visiting during the "off" season (we visited in May), highly recommend to wait and monitor the prices. The terrace restaurant ambience is so much better, bit the menu provided there is just finger food, so couldn't have a proper dinner there. We had drinks and appetisers there and moved in to the other restaurant for dinner. Being under the same roof and having the same kitchen, I guess, they can share the menu as well!! The swimming pool is on the terrace and using it in May was next to impossible cause of the Sun. It is available only till 7pm in the evening, so if you are sight seeing, you have to be back before that to enjoy it. In fact in our 3 night stay, we couldn't use it cause of this, despite being avid pool lovers. At the entry, there are a series of steps, so if travelling with an elderly, it could be a challenge. Better to speak with the management prior to make some arrangements for the same.

Bathroom drainage issue could’ve been a li’l better. But nothing major as such. Neat, clean, hygienic, and well maintained.

Everything, the breakfast buffet, the rooms, the staff, the place, the vibe!

There's nothing to dislike. They have been running it like a family run place inspite being so big and that's their strength!
