Great terrace, great host

Sink was not working

The room was very cozy, fruits and water was offered on arrival, a kitchen with a very nice terrace is available and they even have tea and instant noodles free of charge. Cold sodas and beer is available for a cheap price and all in all the service is amazingly friendly and helpful. I wish I could have stayed longer! The owner booked onward tickets for us and even communicated with the bus company several times to make sure that everything went smoothly!

Situated in a little residential alleyway off a main road and right opposite one of the (many) pagodas in Soc Trang. That main road is a bit busy during the day but is quiet at night. The room is a good size and very clean. The bed is comfortable and in the room I had there's a nice rocking chair as well - it makes a nice space to just relax if you need some down time. Good aircon but also a fan so you don't need the aircon so much. The shared kitchen is a real plus- it's on a little terrace which is a lovely place to sit in the mornings and evenings. There's a shared fridge with drinking water (free) and other stuff like soft drinks, beer and some basic foodstuffs for a nominal price. It's a 20-30 minute walk to the centre and a riverside walk area, there are mini markets and a bigger supermarket closer than that. Ricky is the perfect host. From the moment I booked he sent me all the information he had on a festival taking place while I was there and also organised my transport to and from Soc Trang. You can borrow bicycles - when I arrived there was one ready which was too big for me and Ricky went out of his way to get hold of a smaller, more manageable one. There's some nice cycling heading out away from the city and it makes it far easier to visit some of the spectacular khmer pagodas.  I was here for a week to coincide with the Ooc Om Boc festival and if I ever get the chance to be in this part of the world again at the right time of year, I would definitely come back here. Highly recommended.   ** I stupidly left a favourite jacket behind by mistake. When I messaged Ricky about it he had already found it, washed it and is in the process of getting it forwarded to me. Top marks!!
