We had a great stay at John's accommodation. The accommodation is very well equipped, we felt at home here. John gave us advice and help us for our stay. It’s very well located and gives you a beautiful view of Rodrigue lagoon.

It’s tremendously exciting for world travelers to find somewhere very special like Rodrigues Island, 600 km east of Mauritius. Even more intriguing is what the accommodation will be like so far from the populated world. The pick-up from the little airport was faultless despite a common Air Mauritius delay and we were greeted at the Blue Room by John who showed us around and settled us in. The accommodation is simple and entirely unpretentious where everything works, including (now wait for it) wifi that yields, another ‘wait for it’, 320 Mbps! Plenty of water for the shower, hot and cold, with uninterrupted power supply. John can make available a car, a robust 4x4, at rates that, as I told him, are far below market rates. The Blue Room overlooks the somewhat distant Indian ocean that is a short drive away in Anse aux Anglais, down the hill. Restaurant-wise, there’s not a hell of a lot going on in Rodrigues but the local village down the hill offers some animation in the way of two okay eateries and a little grocery store. It’s pretty too. So, it’s a great place to stay (without AC but good fans) and highly recommended indeed. Bravo John!

The gas stove was difficult to light, but that may be our mechanical incompetence.

We liked the friendly and homey atmosphere... The superb view... The sound of the waves... The warm and heartfelt welcome... The countless kind thoughts that kept on coming our way... All in all... We experienced a superb warm welcome on a typical beautiful farm, with its on a prime location... We arrived as guests, we left as family. From the bottom of out of hearts... Thank you! We miss all of it already, the animals, pets and all... We'll be back!

Not much. Maybe darker curtains and a slightly more comfortable mattress.
