The Jam Hostel Luang Prabang

nice social place to stay and make friends without being too loud. great place to also just chill by the pool. staff are really friendly and can book things for you, the waterfall trip was really good. in a good location and plenty of things to do. feels a lot more modern than other places in laos

i woke up with over 20 bites all over my skin, my back, bum, tummy, arms and legs which definitely look like bed bug bites. the bedding just wasn’t clean at all, i had to change them 3 times when i got there. walls are dirty and the actual bunk beds definitely don’t get cleaned. the cleaners are so nice but they take their shoes off to get on the beds to change the sheets and a lot of them have really dirty bottoms of their feet which leaves marks on beds that are meant to be clean. i stayed in the 6 beds female dorm and the en-suite is really run down. no hooks or shelves in the shower so makes it difficult to put your things anywhere.

Beds unclean as you’re not assigned a specific one. Ants on bed. Also not their fault but people bring muddy shoes into the bathroom

Hostel was in a good location and good value for money too. The outside area was very pretty and had a nice social feel.

Bathrooms got dirty quickly due to so many people using the same bathroom and the pool wasn’t the cleanest.

The location was great, everything in town within walking distance and felt very safe to walk even at night.

The pool was closed for several days during our stay so we couldn’t use it and they didn’t provide another solution. There was only one shower, sink and toilet in the dorm for 12 people and it was all in the same room so there was often a queue. The sink leaked so the floor was always wet. They had a bar, but it wasn’t very social and they don’t provide any evening activities… They said they provide free drinking water, but it always ran out and the staff didn’t say much when we asked about it. In general, the hostel isn’t necessarily bad, but they don’t live up to what they say
