"A very beautiful place."

Beautifully renovated ("repaliated" as they say in Greece) old traditional tower-house. In a great part of town. Wonderful outside garden and seating. Very kind and responsive hosts.

We came in the midst of winter, and the house is oriented towards summer vacations. So we couldn't enjoy completely. We did get to pick fresh lemons and oranges for a morning juice - you don't get that in summer.

"Accomodation in this original Mani war tower is an experience"

The owners have added all modern amenities to this historical building without disturbing the original architecture. Mavrovouni (<black mountain>, Montenegro) is practically a suburb of Gythion but still a separate village and the tower overlooks the main square with several tavernas directly in front of it. Across the road there is also a mini market/cafe with fresh pies for breakfast The famous beach of Mavrovouni (thick sand, endless) starts just below the village. Too steep to walk up- and downhill but only 5 minutes by car
