Seafront 2 Bedroom Apartment

Good location

Needed to alter pressure in the boiler, as we had no hot water. Issues with door handles on bathrooms - coming loose, sticking.

Nice view and host was very friendly and helpful.

Not very clean and smelled like someone smoked in the bathroom (it stank). Beds were very uncomfortable and felt like they were at an angle. Microwave was grimy and apartment very small.

Very nice host and the appartement has view on the beach.

Location absolutely excellent!! Can I just say the host’s are absolutely amazing. My grandaughter lost her first tooth during her stay and left a note on the door to tell the tooth fairy where she was. Amazingly the “tooth fairy” really did come, leaving a £10 note under her pillow accompanied by a beautiful text. ( the owners had seen her note and having asked our permission assisted the tooth fairy to get in, find the right bed and leave the gift!) I can honestly say i have never been so touched in my life!

Great location, modern apartment, washer-drier for clothes, dishwasher, co-op almost next door. Bedrooms set up ideally with a king size and a twin, sofa bed if you need it. Sea view from 1 bedroom, car park from the other. 2 bathrooms

I would strongly recommend contacting in advance and asking for detailed directions to access Clearwater apartment 5. There were rapid, helpful replies but you have to ask specific questions. You will arrive well prepared and will not have to deal with the owner as much. It’s a 20 minute walk between the property and the main house where we were asked to collect the key. That’s impractical without a car but on street parking is not allocated and is often full. Very limited and expensive overnight parking options in Portsmouth, not permitted at the park and ride. The owner Stephen Ashby seems to be running a successful business with several accommodation options, but you’ll see several reports of his rudeness. He means well, and is concerned that his guests manage to come and go ok, taking the time to explain some complex access instructions as best he can. However he struggles to explain well and has an unfortunate insulting and overbearing style. Who knows what he has experienced to make the poor man this way. He has pictures, which he showed me, but couldn’t send due to wifi issues. Sending instructions in advance would have helped rather than getting them after a 3 hour journey in a hurry. The cleaning lady told me in front of him that the apartment hadn’t been cleaned this week. His solution ‘open the windows!’ Actually apart from the smell from the main bathroom drains, which was helped by opening windows, the apartment did seem clean, only a mop with no place to put away was on show (we put it by the front door) and dirty plates put away in the cupboard. Shame about the clutter left on the scaffolding in front of the sea view. Nobody working over the weekend. I wouldn’t accept this if I was doing building work in my home. The door does open into a car park with keypad-locked car and pedestrian gates and no access permission unfortunately.

Great location, well appointed, secure, street parking, walking distance of several good restaurants

No shower curtain for shower over a bath, kitchen smelt of greasy cooking, glasses all dirty, couldn’t get radiators on to help dry wet clothes when returning soaked to the skin.
