High Tree Nest

It was fairly close to the railway station and I had an early train so that was useful. If you don't mind the things mentioned below, then this accommodation is fine. The bedding was clean. Great big bed and single bed. There was a clean towel as well as soap and a toothbrush and toilet roll, which I thought was a lovely touch. The accomodation is on a main road so there are some small supermarkets around but you do not hear the traffic and you have access to buses on your doorstep. It is only a 10 minute walk to the main bust stand.

This accommodation is very random. I was met by a security guard who didn't speak English. Once he had settled me in, I didn't see him or anyone else while I was there. I upgraded to a room with a bathroom but that wasn't the case. The bathroom was across the 'meeting' room which had access to the main street down some stairs which was not locked and the public could just walk in. I'm quite a hardy traveller so this didn't put me off but if you were a little less confident, the security of the property could be an issue. There is no outside space with the property and no windows. The price for this property is too high.

The rooms of the facility are windowless except for one. We moved to a room with windows facing the road. But this room only has a fan. It must be waived. Stayed for one night. May not be suitable for longer stays.

Very friendly host. Contacted me on WhattsApp and offered to meet us at the train station. Nice room with aircon and a shared bathroom. This is very simple, but more than adequate for one night and the price is more than fair. We came from Kandy, had dinner and a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed just 500 meters from the train station, before catching the morning train to Ella. Perfect - would stay again.

Sunil was a wonderful generous host! I arrived by train later than expected and Sunil made the special effort to come meet me at the train station in the rain and ensured I got to the accomodation dry and with a good price tuk tuk. The accomodation is located in a good central location, across the road from the Muthiyangana Raja Maha Vihara Buddhist temple, and easy walking distance/tuk tuk ride from the train station. I stayed just one night, My bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and spacious, with fan and air conditioning. The shared bathroom was clean and has a cold shower, toilet and hand basin. A towel is provided. Thank you Sunil for your warm hospitality!
