Il Poli

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Il Poli. Lidia is a very attentive host. Check-in was a breeze. The apartment is in a nice neighbourhood, with good access to public transport and a wealth of shops and cafes at walking distance. It has a huge private roof terrace facing south-east where we spent a lot of time. We stayed for 6 nights but that could easily have been more; we felt very much at home. Portici is about 15 minutes by train from Napoli Centrale, but a lot less busy, and we were happy to go back to Portici at the end of each day.

I stayed here for 8 nights in July. I was contacted a couple of days before arrival to agree a time to meet outside to collect the keys. They new enough English to explain everything to me. My understanding of spoken italian is close to nil. The apartment is on the second floor (third for our american friends). No lift. The building is an old hotel, converted into residential apartments. The bedroom of the apartment would have been a hotel bedroom looking out over the square and the kitchen seems like an extension out onto the roof. There is a single air conditioning unit in the corridor, facing into the bedroom which kept the bedroom cool enough. The real selling point is the extremely large terrace. No real view to speak of, but the surrounding apartment buildings are a good distance away. The terrace dining table, gets shade until 10-11. The gazebo is fully shaded from about 2. The apartment was very clean, a spare set of bed linen was in a bedroom drawer and there were enough towels to last a month. The host contacted me a couple of times to make sure all was well. Portici is very much Naples suburbia. In the immediate vicinity, dining options are mostly focused on Panini and Pizza takeaways. There are a couple of formal restaurants, which I didn't try. I recommend Regina Farina Pizzeria, for a proper modern sit down pizza experience, Service is ultra fast. Altogether a great place to stay.

The host Lidia, who met us to give us the keys and walk us through the apartment while answering any questions we had, was very friendly and flexible with arrival time due to some delays

Convenient location facing a small park, close to train station and shops, quiet building, sizable bedroom, bathroom and kitchen with gas stove. The terrace is great for breakfast. It even offers bathrobes and ground coffee!

While the kitchen was decently equipped, a few replacement (or missing) cooking utensils for basic/simple cooking would be appreciated. A little bit of olive oil and additional condiments would be a great plus. All great otherwise!

excellent location, near the train station and bus stop. also so many places for eat near, and supermarket/ pharmacy, everything is within walking distance. apartment is clean, everything what need for your stay is there. the hosts are very friendly and ready to answer to any questions!! thank you so much Lidia for this nice days!
