Albergue de São Bento

Maria is gracious, kind, helpful and lovely. She made us feel so welcome. There is a turtle named Santiago. The best part was the family dinner hosted entirely by Maria and her family. We met lovely new friends from Italy, Finland and Germany. Delicious dinner and wonderful conversation. It's by donation!

The best part of this hostel was the donation based pilgrim's dinner! The food was delicious and gave us the space to meet and chat with everyone.

The bunk beds were loud with any movement and the rooms were a bit damp and clammy

Small number of beds per room. It was not actually busy when I was there so it was me and two other girls. Woman on reception was great and she cooks up a dinner for you in the evening, donations welcome

Honestly I think it was just because I was on my last legs walking that day on the Camino and the extra few km outside caminha hit me

A very cool albergue, with a pleasant hostess who cooks a delicious dinner in the evening for a donation, where you can chat with other pilgrims. The location is excellent, and there's a car that picks you up in the morning and takes you to Spain, which is very convenient. The hostel had everything you needed.

It was very cold in May, the blanket they gave me wasn't warm and I had to sleep in all my clothes.

Lovely. Nice and clean hostel with a view on the Minho river. The owner is extremely kind and prepared a free delicious dinner for all the pilgrims, even though we were just a few (6) for the night. It included fried vegetables, meat with tomato, salads of different kinds, red wine, water, and a refreshing fruit salad as dessert. The atmosphere was amazing and perfect to get to know the other pilgrims, we told our stories and had a lovely evening. There are rooms with 5-6 beads each, very clean, sheets included. 2 bathroom with shower and toilette.
