"Amazing gem of a property."

10.0

Beautiful, unique historic property, fitted to the highest standards, with real attention to detail. Welcome treats for dogs and humans were much appreciated. Excellent location. Great pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Anglesey beautiful. Excellent communication from the owners, including tips on local places to visit. The lovliest place we've stayed in to date.

Nothing to dislike.

"Beautiful experience, felt very welcome and had a much needed peaceful and relaxing time, many thanks!"

10.0

The owners were so very welcoming and kind, they clearly have a genuine care for the place and it really showed in the detail - the lovely welcome treats, wine in the fridge etc. It is clear that they have put immense effort and dedication into giving life to this historic building. Overall the aesthetics of the cottage are a nice, simple and an example of how to make a small place feel cosy yet spacious with access to plenty of natural light (helped by the window in the kitchen ceiling - see pic) and overall layout, the open plan kitchen was well equipped (we cooked all meals), also with some board games, books and TV, it felt very cosy and clean. The location was perfect with nice walks along the straights to Church Island which was stunningly beautiful, amazing sunsets and sea birds were a joy. The cottage is walking distance to everything we needed for cooking, (we didn't have a car with us). Waitrose and a small convenience store was a short walk away and there were also some nice cafes and pubs. Next time I book with them I will do so directly with the owners to better support small local business. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will recommend to friends.

Nothing to specifically dislike personally, but would caution for bigger people as it might be difficult to get down the narrow side alley entrance, also it requires slow care not to catch your clothing on the walls.

"Fabulous find in a fabulous spot!"

9.0

The cottage was just so dinky and had literally everything a couple could need!! It was super clean and was very modern and simply furnished....ie it wasn't cluttered 👍 The location was fabulous!! Right under the Menai Bridge and within walking distance of lots of places to eat, shop and great walks. The owner was lovely to communicate with and answered my questions quickly and in a friendly way. Plus the welcome treats were a lovely surprise!!

The parking was a bit of a lottery!!! Luckily we managed to park near to the lovely cottage every night. The decking area was fabulous but it was just a shame it wasn't connected to the cottage.

"10 out of 10 for the Ferryman's cottage!"

10.0

The location was perfect. kitchen facilities were spot on, we pulled out the dining table to eat our big, home cooked meals, as we both love to cook locally sourced foods on holiday and Menai doesn't disappoint on this front! Everything was clean and tidy and the use of space was super creative. Lots of hot water for morning showers, we slept well, and the little sun terrace, less than a one minute walk round the back of the cottage was a little bonus for early evening sundowners or morning coffee. we played Trivial pursuit for the first time in twenty years and were spoiled for choice by the T.V streaming available. We came and went a lot over our stay and every time we returned to the Ferrymans there was somewhere to park. The second flat screen t.v in the bedroom was pure opulence for such a bijou property, yet gratefully used whilst eating breakfast in bed. We loved that the night time hours were so quiet and you couldn't hear any traffic. Ferryman's is within a few minutes walk of the bridge/pubs/restaurants and so much more, so, if the weather ever became atrocious, you would easily be able to get what you need and hunker down.

We were lacking a chopping board but then found one camouflaged in the cupboard over the oven, so not really a don't like. A cafetiere for our favourite coffee would have been a nice touch but not a problem as we always bring our own, which we did on this occasion. The gap between the Ferrymans and the house next door is very narrow. My husband scraped his arm 3 times on the pebbledash next door. You can't erase over 300 years of architectural history and the Ferrymans is what it is, guests need to be advised to use the front door with confidence. A microwave oven would have been a bonus but really have no idea where one would fit. it would have been lovely, as we both love history, for a scrap book to have been available to explore the history of the cottage alongside the renovation project. Everybody is searching for a bargain these days, a couple of cheeky discounted nights would be a great bonus for people wanting to stay.

"People of size beware!"

7.0

The location is superb for both the town and also the activities we wanted to do. The apartment was clean and well presented. The sky stream is a lovely touch which we haven't had in other more expensive properties.

I feel the cottage was misrepresented. As nowhere in the marketing materials did it mention that we'd have to leave the property walk to the end of the road and turn into a different road to then access the "terrace/patio."" The integrated bench tapers significantly.not somewhere you would spend a decent amount of time as no cushions. Would you sit a whole afternoon on a park bench?? Maybe a patio set would work?? This is also the bin area. So if you want to put rubbish out, it's impractical. The views of the straits is a tiny slither sandwiched between the houses opposite. Nice view into their bedrooms, but not much else. Access to the property is also misrepresented. The photo on the website shows a front door on the road. This is bolted from the inside. So upon arrival, this isn't the route in. As a rugby player, my physique didn't lend itself to the rather small gap to squeeze down. I have friends that simply wouldn't fit! Also if you're wearing an expensive jacket it may well scuff on the pebble dashed wall... mine did. So not the best entry. This also is a problem in the bathroom. which an estate agent would describe bijoù and compact... in order to get off the toilet, you have to twist to get your knees clear of the sink which would explain the loose toilet seat! The bedroom is a decent size but lacks a wardrobe, which there is space for. A handful of hangers on the back of the door is the alternative provided. Also a microwave would be very handy. Another issue which would only be a problem for the colder months is the heating, which the owner controls externally. We got in after a walk rather wet and chilly we couldn't turn the heating up.
