Before I even begin, it’s incredibly frustrating that apartments in Ghana are charging such high prices for places that are honestly subpar. I stayed in constant communication with the host including on the day I was flying in to inform them of my arrival time. At no point was I told there was an issue with the apartment or that I would be moved to a completely different location, The Signature. After a long journey, my friend and I were exhausted and just wanted to rest so we reluctantly agreed. I even went ahead and made payment that same day, which in hindsight was a big mistake. The apartment itself lacked basic amenities. There were no bedside lights. The AC in one of the rooms did not work. There was only one fork. The WiFi did not work for the first 3 days of our stay. On top of that, the gym is not included in the price nor is breakfast. So what exactly did we pay $1120 for? This kind of experience highlights a bigger issue: the overcharging for accommodations that do not meet expected standards, combined with poor communication from hosts. We didn’t even meet the host in person, everything was handled via WhatsApp. I had made one simple request months in advance, a full-length mirror which, unsurprisingly, was not provided until 3 days into our stay. After what has been already a very difficult year, this trip was meant to be a chance to relax and reset. It was extremely disappointing that even basic necessities like WiFi were not available from the get go (resulting in my friend missing multiple meetings as she still had to work). Please do better. Pricing should reflect actual quality and service, not just aesthetics. Consider this a warning to others: many of the reviews appear to be fake. You are not booking directly with the property but with a private host who, in this case, showed very little regard for the guest experience.
